InactiveLoads of casinos now set aside a large budget and have a team of seo’s working for them, they can also afford to buy hundreads of links which is what quite a few of them do and a small affiliate would not be able to afford this. There’s nothing wrong with what there doing it just means that us affiliates will have to work harder than ever as more casinos hire seo teams.

InactiveI received that as well, but I don’t exchange links with casinos. Period.

InactiveIf you exchange links with casinos, they need to pay for them.
You might be leaking players.
Even if they pay, you need to be very careful who you link to. And who they link to. Google is getting more and more discerning about links.

InactiveYea I got that as well. What should we do to combate the problem?

InactiveThe thing that seems odd to me is, why would I want to link to them without my affiliate tag? That doesn’t make any sense at all.
On the other hand, if I am an affiliate, and am linking to them, then they should link back to me anyway because if my site does better it helps them.

Uhm, SEO?Ask yourself if you want links from on topic domains, some over 5 years old.
This has been going on for years, nothing new.
I really don’t think you’ll leak too many players from an obscure link somewhere in the bowels of your site…
The same applies to them….they will link to you in turn…

InactiveI understand exactly what they are trying to do. This is just another example of casinos going about things the wrong way, and of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.
Don’t you think they would have a much better success rate if an affiliate manager that already has a relationship with me calls or emails me, and lays out the deal? If they are trying to get better serp does my tag hurt them?
What makes this particular case ironic is that this casino asked me to take down their banners about a year ago.

InactiveYou won’t leak too many players from an obscure link, no, but you’ll be leaking a ton of them if the casino makes it to the top of the serps, ahead of your sites.
Hopefully you’re all aware of this, and won’t be giving or selling too many such links only to regret it after the horses leave the barn.
This is a dog-eat-dog world and I’m not building my sites with bricks made out of doggie biscuits.

InactiveMaybe experienced webmasters are not linking to casino sites directly (like casinofortune.com) but there are also some casino “portals” out there that are owned and operated by casino groups…but many webmasters are linking to them and helping them take away your positions.
Of course, technically there is nothing wrong with what they are doing…I just don’t see why webmasters would like to help them so much for free though.

InactiveGot the same email but they sent it to one of our mods for some reason, I replied “No Thanks”, I have had a bad experience with them before. If you do decide to trade links be sure to make sure your not giving any hidden dialers with the links.

InactiveThey are requesting a link because it helps them in the SERPs plain and simple. A link from your site with your affiliate code behind it doesn’t count since that is a link that only your site uses. Google ranks sites based on the exact URL that is in a link along with the anchor text to help define what the link means to Google. As was said, burrying a link deep within a links directory surely won’t leak many if any players, and the link you would be getting back is of very high qualtiy.

InactiveWebber, I clicked on your profile link, but it looks like I would get 1 link for giving you 5…?

Some online casinos have changed the affiliate link syntax in order that it would also help them in the SEO game.Take a look at the backlinks of:
link:http://www.intercasino.com/
link:http://www.888.com/
link:http://www.luckynugget.com/
link:http://www.32red.com/All rank in google top ten for “online casino” thanks to our affiliate links.
I think it’s time to start using “no-follow” in the affiliate links.May 23, 2006 at 10:22 am #692962Anonymous
Inactivefor those who don’t how to use the nofollow tag, it goes like this:
It’s debatable whether or not MSN and Yahoo pay attention to it. I believe google does.
Certainly use it for affiliate tags – particularly ones which have a “?” immediately after the base url, such as

InactiveIn terms of SEO…is it actually good if a casino links to you ? In other words, if the casino would have a designatat partner site where several links are on. Is that good for SEO?
Thanks,
