InactiveTo receive this free money, and if I already have an account, I must open a new one. Checking PP terms and conditions, I can only have ONE account.
Say I joined PP under Dom’s(sorry for using you Dom) tracking code and after reciving this promo from this aff, I do exactly what he says to get my free money, aren’t you a victim of possibly “theft by swindle” Dom. Is this aff now earning commission from me and not you, and is this aff breaking PP terms and conditions?Somewhere there is an older thread for PP that was never clarified properly.
There is some feature there where affiliates can put money into player accounts, and something about the player then being able to switch to that affiliate’s account. Something about the affiliate who is able to incentivise more deposits deserving to have the player…
Not sure if that feature still exists.
Also, while most poker rooms do not push rakeback loudly anymore, most of them do actually allow/encourage theft.
The reason for this is simple.
Right now only 10-15% of players use rakeback. These 15% are high rollers and every pokerroom wants to have them. For that reason the rooms offer rake back. The thing is that when rakeback spreads across the industry and affects 50% of the players, the operators will get decreased revenue as well as the affiliates, affiliates who made 30% MGR will make 3%.
Given this, it is in the current best interest of most rooms to quietly support theft of players. This helps them gain/retain the big players they want while not making too much noise about rake back to newer players.
Microgaming for instance forbid Prima rooms to use the word rake back. However, there is no rule about offering it or about encouraging the theft of players.
Unfortunately Poker has been allowed to become a totally unethical branch of the gambling industry. Where casinos have been cleaning up their act, poker as been sliding into a pit of theft and deception.
There are exceptions, but not very many.
Given that, I expect there to be a big fallout in poker. For several reasons. The fad will wear off, there are way too many competing rooms out there, and rakeback will eventually do away with the profitability.

InactiveDom…great post.
I have seen more of this activity in the past few months, including asking for the player’s player code and depositing an additional $25 in their account. This also gets the “new” players to make the critical first initial deposit.
What’s funny is these affiliates are using the same bonus tracker for all their respective “new” player signups. Therefore, there is no way to tell if the individual player has indeed signup up under your tracker as players have signed up under a general tracker and not a specific tracker (i.e. like they use in rakeback).
I am also not sure if the feature mentioned still exists.
I also know Party will not allow you to have two accounts, and it is very difficult to move an existing account to a new one without a specific reason.
Any thoughts on how to defend this action or do we go on the offensive.

InactiveHi Jamie,
After getting my poker site up and running in Feb, I ran a promo with Doyles Room for this month giving the 1st 25 sign-ups $25 free. My aff manager has worked with me and within 15 minutes can verify if this person who gives me his screenname only and the e mail they used when signing up, did in fact sign up under my link. I also check my stats right away as the sign ups are in real time to make sure someone did indeed just sign up. It has run so smoothly and has been such a success, I will be doing the same promo in April along with running a freeroll where I bank them $1000 and maybe act as a bounty as well.
I did have someone use 2 names with the same e mail but we did verify that a relative was visiting and joined Doyle’s using his brother in laws e mail address, which we had him change once we deleted his initial registration.
I did have a couple people that had joined through another affiliate and wanted to join again and I told him no.
I did notice on Party Poker whereas affiliates cannot play for money at their site. Of course it’s open to interpretation, but that’s how I read it anyway.
But for an affiliate to tell an existing player to rejoin and they will give them free money is not good a business practice especially to the original affiliate this player signed up under.
Does anyone know as I’m curious to find out, of all the new daily casino and poker registrations, what % are entering these sites from an affiliation?

InactiveI will say this openly because I have put alot of time into this recurring problem with programs.
Some programs have found the magic bullet when it comes to marketing. The affiliate is becoming an endangered species. There are more scrapers than actual hard working webmasters.
Programs are also starting up a huge number of front pages that is a scary thought.
Therefore, a more aggressive stance against scraping would be a beginning towards being takin more seriously. Do you really think they care about your report? do you really think they care about your hard work? I say no way, they have enough resources now to do it all on there own. The resources they employ do not meet the guide lines of any SE’s policies and this is their achilles heal. Become more proactive against dishonest webmasters and practices of aff programs.
I would bet earnings are far less now than a year ago and yet the market is growing.
Unless we as a community of honest webmasters take back our market share profits will continue too dwindle.I am pulling them off my site, do you think they really care? no way! greek39

Hmmm, my experience with Doyle’s was odd.
We were communicating daily for a bit, planning out a campaign, and then suddenly all communications stopped. I enquired back a few times, first was told that the person I was talking to was out of town, then never received anymore replies.
Maybe it’s something I said? I found it very odd, putting all that energy into pursuing something and then – poof!

InactiveThat is odd Dom,
I’ve noticed alot of these affiliate programs have numerous managers, and managers can make or break a business. My manager gets right back to me regardless of the time and support contacts me right away when I want to fund a players account and I’ve even talked to Doyle himself.
I’m quite certain my manager can get to the bottom of it if you like.

InactiveDana,
Nice work with Doyles, keep it going!
We have started to pull in some good numbers for Doyle’s in the past couple of months. I will agree with Dom though, I find they are not the easiest bunch to deal with, it could be because they were concentrating on launching their new affiliate site but who knows. I could not even get them to approve a new tracker in the system even after a few reminder emails over a couple of weeks, I can’t imagine trying to get them to run a private campaign.
Who are you dealing with overthere..is it Mike?
Back to the thread at hand..I am still trying to figure out what the defence is to this position. I will bring it up to my AM at Party and see what there position is on this topic.
Seperate question…Dom did you get the Casino players transferred over after the Empire sale?
Cheers,

InactiveI deal with Mark Saban, a really nice and cooperative man and with my tournaments I will be running will be with Tisha Petersen.
Before I started my promotion, I made it imperative to know when to contact them as these players that I give free money to are very, very impatient in an annoying way.

InactiveI was dealing with “Brock” and also some with George Barahona. Weirdest interaction I have ever had. I liked the people and we seemed to hit it off. All gung ho for many many mails, planning out a campaign I thought would be very interesting, and then they just disappeared.
I am not sure if my casino players have been mapped over. There is a small amount of money in my Tradal account. If that is my casino payment, somehow players for the most part just stopped playing. A mail to Tradal went unanswered. I used the mail function on their site, never found that to work. I have a personal mail form them in my email system someplace and will have to dig it up and ask someone directly.

Inactivehi Dom,
I just e mailed my aff mgr about 5 minutes ago and he responded this to me.
I didn’t mention your name.Hi Dana;
I am familiar with these names and I don’t know the reason why they haven’t responded to this person’s emails. Tell her that I will be more than happy to answer all her inquiries in a timely manner. Just give her my contact information.
Best wishes,
Mark Saban

InactiveTell him that is very kind of him, thanks but no thanks.
I am willing to pick up with Brock and George where we left off, but short of that am not interested in doing business with Doyle’s anymore.
