This sucks, out of interest what sort of response do you get from 888.com on this recurring problem?
For me its’ really quite simple. I am getting tired of constantly having to shut down sites. But this one is a direct scrape of our site which makes matters worse. 888.com has caused nothing but problems for most CAP members. As webmasters I find very few who appreciate you group.
I should scrape their site and redirect it to my casino site. I expect payment or I am breaking out in proportions that you can’t even imagine.
Do the right thing here 888.com or I will post this garbage all over the place and take action. This creep has been bothering me long enough. greek39
What I find humorous out of this whole thing is the latest CAP newsletter (sorry Prof / Dom). 888 is the ‘featured certified program’.
I sure wish you could find a more reputable program for this.

Im pretty sure the companies have to pay to be certified here, I doubt the owners will take them off the list if they are well paying.
And just out of curiosity, how is it 888.com’s fault that scrapers steal your content??
And no, you are not alone, type “HustleCards.com” into google with the quotes and you will see all the assholes who have scraped my site lately.
Greek I truly don’t know how you keep up with these guys and shut them down, in my case I have emailed them all and a very small portion removed my content.

Why is 888.com the program of choice for scrapers??????? There is a reason. I am fairly confident I know why. I am also fairly confident that Greek has found out why.
The reason is because of the $200 cpa for poker … And its even higher for Casino? (Im on a poker tip). I know for a fact that Online Poker rooms and Casinos will not ban a member if they are bringing in enough players. There are probably exceptions, but this is the norm. I know this because a good friend once inquired to pokerroom affiliates why this Asshole with all those myspace.msn/my-poker-keywods never got shut down. PokerRoom’s response was “Because he brings in too many players”
well anyway the site will be gone by next week. 888.com also has been scraped by many webmasters I have a long list of theses sites. What they do is use 888.com domain name and keywords and set up a real site. They usually rank high, a couple of site don’t even promote 888.com.
I am not a member of 888.com, but I quess my rankings are high enough to be scraped.
What the Prof and Dom outside of CAP is their business, even though I don’t agree with it. But their sites also been scraped and redirected to 888.com beyond imagination. I never did bother to mention it to them, they know about it already.
So basically its a scraping nightmare and we are all screwing ourselves. I consider myself a little different, I do not compromise my beliefs, integrity or moral character. To answer your question we must begin by asking what is a scraper. A scraper is usually a lazy minded person. I hate talking tech stuff, because I would like people to understand it.
A scraper pull snippets and text from a website that usually rank high for keywords. By doing so they hope to rank high as well. In simple terms, they send out script spiders and target keywords in the hopes of rank high themselves.
In my situation they have grabbed my domain name and some content. Therefore a scraper site uses the information from another site. Basically its content theft for the domain owner.
RSS (Rich Site Summary) can be used for websites, weblogs, and pod casting are very vunerable to scrapers. I do not use any for that reason, also link farms are prime candidates for scraping.
So a scraper finally succeeds, ranks high on the engines receives lots of traffic and tries and get the most out of it. A Gambling scraper I would assume would like to get the most of of his high ranking site. If I Practiced this, would I just redirect the page? No way! I would stuff as many programs into my scraped site as I could, it would be more profitable for me to do so.
With this in mind, and I have personally spoke with many scrapers, this would be the best way. So now I ask, why would a high ranking scraped page just redirect to 888.com? From what I know this would be foolish.
Just a little while back, for the keyword “casino games” out of 20 million pages this scraper site ranked number 2. Unfortunatley the scraper just simply just redirected his page to 888.com and the site was removed.
Now does this make sense to you? I have thousands of scrape sites that sole purpose is to redirect to 888.com why is this happening? How did 888.com become so big?
The search engines are very clear on this practice. In my current situation, the scaper used my domain name and part of my description. The SE’s see it as content theft and redirect page. Against every policy in the book, and can easily be takin care of.
Now visit the 888.com part of this forum and begin to read the posts. All the scraping, locked accounts, complaints ect… very little admiration for 888.com.
Does CAP charge for programs to be certified? Sure they do and with good reason. But money and the interests of CAP members should never be compromized. I feel it has in this situation, its really unfortunate.
So what can I do shut down scraper sites and release my article to the London Times who has been lurking on this forum for the last four months. Then once published, the article will be sent to the London Stock Exchange and hopefully the commission puts a hold on trading until further investigation. I have more than enough proof now 888.com is partly to blame. This is not a Court of Law and will not provide the details just like 888.com does not. greek39

What do you know about what I do outside CAP? Nothing. Unless you are lurking in the bushes out there watching.
You don’t even understand what I do inside CAP.
I am a volunteer. I have volunteered here at CAP for some 5 years and always stuck around even when involved elsewhere. I have no financial interest at all in CAP, nor do I have any financial dealings with the Professor. Not that I wouldn’t want to, but there just has not been any occasion for it.
I am here to keep the peace, and on occasion it is a very ungrateful job as people who are arguing tend to attack the peace keeper.
I also strongly believe that affliates need to cooperate and support each other, because otherwise we have no stand with the programs. United we are strong.
And that is why I am happy to moderate here and to dispense advice and donate my time. It comes back to me in the form of having a better, cleaner industry to work in.
It is far from perfect, but without a place like CAP we would have little recourse.
Now, I don’t approve or disapprove programs here, all I do is keep the peace. But I do see programs getting their accreditation revoked – like Paradise Poker and recently Party Gaming.
Personally I want to see 888 here. They do slowly clean up some of the messes. They did stop offering the CPA that was causing so many problems. And while they are here they are accessible.
One of the reasons Party is gone is because they were inaccessible even when here. So what’s the point in having them? Obviously not the $ CAP makes or they would still be here.
I can think of a few other programs engaging in the same shenanigans as 888, and anyone who spends so much time out there researching scrapers that they know I am being scraped when I do not (and why not give me the courtesy of pointing it out?) has to know about these other programs too.
No, I actually am not making money with 888. They have one textlink on my site and it doesn’t convert.
Enough on this topic for me.

Don’t get irritated Dom I appreciate this forum and respect you and the Professor. I realize you are a Volunteer and understand what your role is.
I figured people of your stature would know already who is scraping your sites. I don’t “lurk in the bushes”. I was merely responding to a previous post stating I didn’t really care what you did outside of CAP, because its basically none of my business.
“united we are strong” nice gesture but this 888.com has been going on for a very long time now. It seems the tatic doesn’t work, the CPA deal is still in full swing.
I agree there are other programs that are doing the same thing 888.com is doing, I just haven’t got around to them yet and after this post probably won’t.
If I was the only one who thought this way I probably wouldn’t say anything. But when I receive hords of emails in support of my cause it pushes me to act.
But I am sure alot disagree with me as well. As for people scraping your site, I suggest you do the homework. I have done enough favors around here and has took a enormous amount of time from me and my friends.
