InactiveHi
I Love Sitemaps,
I have created an XML sitemap for Google, but as far as the sitemap for visitors to see on my site, I just created a simple HTML Page and laid it out in outline form. (So my main site has a .XML and a .HTML sitemap–I am not sure if both are necessary, but visitors cant view the XML sitemap). I am planning on doing the same for each of my sites when they reach approx 100 pages.
You can see what I’m talking about by going to my Play Video Poker Slots site below my sig and clicking on the red sitemap button near the top of my home page.
As far as the Google sitemap, that is really cool because in about a month you will start seeing where your Google traffic is coming from and what terms people are using to find your pages. This is really good info.
One drawback though, is everytime I create a new page on the site, I update my HTML sitemap, update my XML sitemap , Upload my new XML sitemap to the server etc etc. But it seems to keep my site indexed well and fast so I do it. I also think that having this feature should add to the site’s value should you ever want to sell.
Good luck!
