I had been waiting for replies on this, put they are not coming fast and feriosly, so I will add my 2 cents to give it a bump.

I have promoted my 2nd tier very little, I have 2 webmaster sign ups under fortune affiliates. They make me a steady $5-$10 a month. Not much money, but I will take it! I have considered promoting it more, it seems like a great idea. I figure 10-20 webmasters as succesful as you and you double your pay!

I got a bad taste in my mouth when I refered a guy to a program(they are a CAP certified program) and I didn’t get credit. I sent the program an email and they said that he wasn’t tracked to my account, but if he wrote them an email I would get credit. I asked the guy to write the email, but didn’t follow up to see if he did. I never got credit for him. A few years have gone by and I am sure it is lost.(sorry about that story, but it felt good to vent it)

I would love to hear second teir succes stories…Any out there?

Second tier income is not very good.

Lots of people will sign up and never do a thing, and many don’t put in the effort it takes to make it in this industry.

I have a very well ranking Webmaster section at GamesandCasino that has good useful content and gets lots of visitors, and some of the programs are getting good signups.

Still, after all that effort, it is not as profitable as it would be if I had devoted the section to directly promoting something.

I have a site and was doing some ppc programs trying to get webmasters to join programs under me. I got alot of join’s to the party poker affiliate program and didn’t get one single play money player…let alone a real money player. I think the best thing to do is focus on your site making money. IMO

2nd tier earnings are very slow in coming and will never match 1st tier earnings. I have numerous websites devoted to recruiting second tiers, and in retrospect I would probably have earned more if that time had been spent building other 1st tier websites. I earn around 4-5k a month with second tiers accross all programs and industries. That’s including casinos, herbs, satellites, etc.

From owning an affiliate network in a different industry it is clear to me why targetting 2nd tier usualy fails. It takes a minimum of 100 affiliates signed up to get 1 decent affiliate. A quarter of the affiliates I get are questionnable in nature or are outright scammers. The bulk of the remainder are people with homepages, or people who expect to get rich quick by placing a banner up. These people for the most part dont care about learning SEO, how to market effectively, various methods of advertising, etc.

Probably the most effective methods of recruiting second tier is by promoting a program and having your website listed high in search engines. If someone is considering promoting a new industry they will check out who the top affiliates are promoting.

Another comment is that not all programs are good at tracking 2nd tier sign ups, and some programs steal those 2nd tiers from you. Some programs even go as far as promising a special commision to you if you recruit 2nd tier for them but they fail to credit those webmasters under you. Some of those programs are very popular casino affiliate programs, some of them are promoting heavily by top casino affiliates. Please dont ask me for information on who these programs are.

Lastly, it takes months and semetimes years to build a good base of 2nd tiers and the program can remove those at a whim. One example is rapid satellite in the satellite industry stole all of my second tiers after 2 years of promoting them because I happened to live in Canada. I was earning 4 figures a month at the time and it was increasing exponentially.

Well I WILL ASK. these programs need to be outed and if not here then where?

Why would you allow other affiliates to be ripped off by failing to post a simple list as a warning ?

I’m not naming names becauses I will not accuse anyone no matter how strong my suspicions are without evidence to backup those accusations. Even if there is a .1% possibility of me being wrong than that possibility is too high. The program in question doesn’t normally offer 2nd tier and they only approached me for it because of a website that I have ranking high under the keyword casino affiliate programs. There is no risk for the common webmaster. The only thing I will say is that it’s Microgaming and I will leave it at that.

That being said most of the casinos that I trust are Microgaming so please dont take that as been an insult to the software or to most licensees.
