I drink and collect wine and enjoy fine liquors, but I really dont care for Champagne all that much. I suspect if you really poll people you will find most people prefer wine or beer or liquor over Bubbly.

Since both Dom and Cristal are expensive you might get a lot more goodwill for your money if you bought a nice single malt scotch, single barrel bourbon or a wine collection (several bottles from a vintner or region). I know I would be much happier if I received one of those and would actually drink it and remember you fondly.

I assume taste varies per individual but can you name a few good brands that the average drinker can “perhaps” appreciate?

Hey Brad its a case of practice makes perfect. You and the Mrs have to come over one weekend and we can do about twenty or thirty of them and I am sure you will have the hang of it…

Seriously though I would love to have you guys over for a few rounds of Martinis, some kick ass burgers and some football one of these Sundays before the season is over.

We might be able to round up Torrey and Cheryl and Jason too, and if Dennis wants I cant whip him up some virgin martinis too…

Hey this sounds like something to try to set up…

i’m out of the champagne loop, but tend to view it as a part of a celebration. if you want to celebrate with them, or if they have something to celebrate, then that would be appropriate. as for the differences between the house in which they’re made, i’ve no clue.

quality brown liquors are passed as signs of appreciation. they tend to have to stand on their own, and aren’t used as one of several ingredients in a mix of liquors so they “make their own statement”. single malt scotches do have a romance about them, although they honestly don’t agree with my taste buds.

my first reaction when i want to show appreciation is to send someone a bottle of scotch, unless i know they have a sweet spot for another type of liquor.

    You have the number.

If it isn’t handy, you know where to PM me at. :)

And I’m almost always watching football on a Sunday, anyway.

As far as what to send someone, I’m not really sure. Tastes vary quite a bit. Surprises are nice, but you might want to ask them, or give them a few choices.
