InactiveIsn’t this the second time you have had a problem with your registrar?
More :hitthefan – this is kinda inexcusable as well, though at least you came forward to explain the situation.

InactiveSame for me. I have had this from time to time and don´t give you as much room as I would like to anymore.
It makes me look bad when I recommend something that doesn´t work.Spearmaster wrote:Isn’t this the second time you have had a problem with your registrar?More :hitthefan – this is kinda inexcusable as well, though at least you came forward to explain the situation.

InactiveNot good. Seems the block was suspended according to http://www.spamhaus.org/SBL/sbl.lasso?query=SBL25730

InactiveWow; thankfully I don’t promote Fortune Affiliates anymore.
July 31, 2005 at 2:21 am #669495Anonymous
InactiveThat SBL references the first time the Fortune block was suspended. This is the *second* time and is going to be MUCH harder to resolve.
But this should come as no surprise – I have been forwarding twice-weekly spam to FA for quite some time now, with repeated requests to get it fixed.
I still get these emails. But there was a change recently – like yesterday – the Super Size Me emails now do not promote Fortune, instead they promote Vegas Frontier. You’d think this person must have known something was wrong.
Oh well, too late. FA should’ve taken care of the problem a LONG time ago – and they obviously didn’t. See what happens when you spend your time trying to figure out how to screw affiliates and don’t watch your own back door???
July 31, 2005 at 5:00 am #669498Anonymous
InactiveI appreciate the call I got too from them but still like you all said, all you folks should work on is cleaning up your own backyard to stop this from happening again. I cannot even tell you how many times I have turned in an affiliate for spamming to you and nothing gets done about it! I get sick of the damn emails.
This is also a bunch of work to add on to our work load that we all already have and it is very time consuming, I myself want to go have a beer…lol
July 31, 2005 at 5:06 am #669502Anonymous
InactiveHmmm… interestingly enough I just received a couple of email spams for FA at 2 seperate email addresses. Was someone deliberatly trying to get them into trouble or???
July 31, 2005 at 7:59 pm #669520Anonymous
InactiveWhen FA starts terminating the accounts of people who spam, then maybe we’ll actually see the spam stop, and the domains will no longer go down over the weekend!
Until then, it’s just lip service.
July 31, 2005 at 9:27 pm #669521Anonymous
InactiveVery well said Spearmaster, but then again spammers dont mind being paid less income so spammers and FA look a happy marriage.
They obviously don’t want to work with the professionals and by ok’ing the spammers they have dug their own grave

InactiveApparently, godaddy has shut down their domains due to spam abuse.
I’ve heard about this before, it’s a disgrace. The registrar of the domain name should not have the power to shut down your domain without legal proof.
Last time I heard this happen was when someone sent in a complaint about spam and godaddy shut down the domain without asking any questions. It turned out to be a mistake and it took the owner of the domain almost a week to get his site back up.
I advise anyone who uses godaddy to move the domains to another registrar bacause it might just take a single false complaint (or someone hacking your server to use your mail for spam) from a rival to shut your site down.
If your hosting company shuts you down you can move your site and have it back up within an hour, if your registrar shuts down your domain you can do nothing until they fix it.
Even if fortune didn’t spam and shut down the accounts of any aff that did then they would still need to catch the spamming aff first to shut their account. If godaddy got the complaint first then it would make no difference how proactive fortune were at expelling spamming affs, godaddy might still shut them down – BEWARE OF GODADDY (wild west are godaddy by another name)

InactiveI got this email earlier:
Hi Ellen,
Please pay careful attention:
There has been a problem with our domain and some of our client domains at a registrar level.
This is being dealt with the highest priority and a great sense of urgency.
Unfortunately we are not able to resolve this until the registrar office re-opens on Monday morning.
Please feel free to change the code or leave it until Monday.
Either way both new and old domains will be working on Monday. The following have been affected:
– banners will not display
– banners will not redirectThis means that banners will not display or click through to the client site at the moment.
As a contingency we have recreated our tag and image servers on new domains.
Using the new domains all banners and sites will work as normal.
You can use the Fortune Affiliates site for stats and banners as normal at http://www.fortuneaffiliates.onlinegames101.comChanges to get code already on your site to work:
Redirects:
– copy the new domain name – http://www.fortuneaffiliates.onlinegames101.com
– http://www.fortuneaffiliatesupport.com
– replace http://www.fortuneaffiliates.com with the new domain (http://www.fortuneaffiliates.onlinegames101.com) wherever it appears in your codeBanners:
To get the banners to display you need to update the domain name to the new domains.
Please update the domain names as per the list below:
Gateway.fortunelounge.com changes to http://www.avenuep.net
http://www.luckyfelt.net changes to http://www.aussiegambling.net
http://www.luckyvilla.net changes to http://www.avenuep.org
http://www.bonuspick.net changes to ww2.avenuep.netWe know that it is inconvenient to have to change code but it is the fastest thing that can be done and we really appreciate the efforts.
A simple “find and replace” and all inventory is working again.
The new domains are live and propagating as you read this, so get replacing! We’ll let you know as things develop and we assure you we’ll get to the bottom of this as soon as possible and let you know.
Thank you very much for the help and cooperation.
Contact us if you have any queries, comments or suggestions.

InactiveCroupier – Godaddy isn’t the problem. I’m sure they had a lot to consider before taking such serious action & the decision they made was surely for valid reasons. What is a disgrace is a affiliate program knowingly allowing, or turning a blind eye to, affiliates that send out emails that aren’t welcome to the recipient. I’m sure Fortune wasn’t shut down for just 1 spam complaint. I personally have forwarded countless spam mailers I received over to Fortune support and requested that they contact the affiliate and have my email addresses removed. Even after several conversations w/ Fortune and having a few discussions directly with the affiliate & requesting that my emails be removed permanently from future mailings… No change… Just more “Super Size me” idiotic spam emails everyday. Fortune could easily close the accounts of the affiliates that spam & cause these problems for everyone, but they don’t.
