Inactiveas far as I know, microgaming casinos shuffle the deck after each hand in blackjack

InactiveIn my limited understanding of these programs, it is easier for an online casino to use only 1 deck and shuffle it after every deal. This also eliminates the chance of a bot counting thru a shoe. If a online casino were mine, I would shuffle after every deal.
There are others here with much more knowledge that will hopefully see this and give you a definate answer.

InactiveSounds like it becomes more like playing a slot machine, then
Always depends upon the luck of the cards (if you always play the same strategy with your hand). That’s unfortunate, but I guess I can understand from their perspective.
I suppose that the live dealers are different, but then again, it would be much easier to cheat over the net if you were a dealer I would think.
Thanks!

InactiveYou can still eyeball the situation a little bit – looking at the cards on the table.
Some softwares also use 8 decks. I think Blackjackinfo can shed some light on that when he drops by – or you may find that info probably at the wizard of odds.

InactiveYeah. That’s kinda what I meant by if I play the same strategy (eyeball the situation). If I play with the odds using a fixed strategy, then the rest is highly ‘luck of the draw.’
I always play with a strategy… Based upon my cards and dealer’s up card, of course.
However, in a brick and morter, I have some clue if either all of the high cards have been played or all of the low cards… And I adjust my strategy based upon that. It helps my percentage towards the end of the shoe.
However, if I lose that because the cards are continuously ‘shuffled’, then I might rather continue playing in the local casinos.
I would definitely be interested in other’s take on this, though. And I really have not done poorly online with BlackJack… Up a little bit over the time I have played. But that comes and goes more than it has locally.Hopefully BlackJackInfo can give some more info. However, in the meantime, I will check out Wiz of Odds site to see if I can find anything out.

InactiveGive casino webcam a try.
There you have a real live casino online.
A lot of the playtechs offer live games too, but I am partial to casino webcam.

InactiveI don’t know how it works on live dealer casinos, but at all the rest they may use 1, 2, or 8 decks, but cards are shuffled at each hand. Counting cards does not work on these.

InactiveHere’s a thread on my message forum about online casinos that do not reshuffle after every hand.
http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bb/showthread.php?t=132
It shows a few examples of online casinos where card counting can work, even though it’s still only a small advantage because of the limited number of hands between shuffles.
For playing single deck, the Wizard of Odds does have an excellent list of strategy variations for use based on the particular cards in your hand. It’s in one of the appendixes under blackjack at his site.

InactiveAwesome! Yeah, I took a look at both sites.. Great information.
As far as actually counting cards… I don’t think that I have the attention span for that one
I just like a little advantage towards the end, when at all possible. Thanks guys!

GuestYou might like Cryptologic’s blackjack then KW.
While I’m certain BJinfo can tell you for sure, I think that Crypto goes about half way into a shoe consisting of …. I want to say 4 decks, but I might be wrong on that.
This is some really old stuff and for that matter, may have never been right.
I haven’t played BJ at any Cryptologic in a long time because quite frankly, its still not the kind of situation that is showing a counter enough cards to be enjoying the “sweet spots” – imho – but last I remember … I’m pretty sure the dealer went into the shoe for quite a few hands before it shows the shoe is being reshuffled.
I hope there’s some kind of merit to the above, or I’m gonna feel pretty foolish….. again.

InactiveYou’re on the right track Steve, though a few details are awry.
The Cryptologic Multi-player game deals 2 decks out of an 8 deck shoe between shuffles. The single player games shuffle after every hand.
I see that several new Multi-player variations are in the newest version 6 of Crypto, but I haven’t had a chance to research that yet.
