InactiveCaptain,
I’m really new to this game, so I’m still learning a lot. What exactly are they doing? What does it mean stealing your type in traffic? Thanks! Sorry for my ignorance

InactiveHey Hojalata,
Some of the offending scum must of seen my post here at CAP. They removed one Titles that included Captains Free Casinos and such. Some of these scumbags do this http://www.yoursite.com/captains-free-casinos.html as an example. Others just title there page and do H tags Captains Free Casinos. What these scumbags are attempting to do is steal my type in traffic when someone types in Captains Free Casinos at Google and other search engines.I will name and shame anyone that does this from now on.

I am sick and tired of these assholes trying to steal my type-in traffic.Hope you don’t take this as an offense but that’s not type-in traffic

Typein traffic = when a surfer enters a domain name straight into the address bar.On topic of your post, I agree that what they are doing isn’t ok. You have worked hard to make your site what it was and noone has the right to profit from your name. What I would suggest is that you trademark the name and then talk to google and try to get them removed. It might work and on the other hand it it might not, but it’s the best and unfortunately the only thing you can do.
Good luck!

InactiveAnd right you are!
That is a despicable practice!
I am glad some have removed your name from their URL.

InactiveI had recently come across this as well, and it is happening even on my small sites with reletively little traffic. It is very scummy because it also looks like I have many more links or presence out there but it is not so because when you go to the sites it dones not have my URL just the name.

Yep this is happening to me as well.. looks like Allen was more successful on getting them to remove it.

“Type is traffic” is when someone types your name into the browser address bar and goes to your site. And yes I dont agree with the practice, but its done to just about every site thats in the top 10 for any length of time – it sucks when you have been or are being targeted. But there isnt much you can do about it.
Sure if you contact them you might get lucky and have one or two remove it, but thats not likely – if they are interested in profiting off your name in the first place – they are not into doing things ethically!
There are worse things out there – for instance having your top position serp targeted by a scumware advertiser. EG when someone clicks on your link listed atop the search engines this piece of $hits ad pops up. Who could be doing such a thing? “Anyone” know anyone doing that?

InactiveMany inexperienced internet users – hell I even do it when over tired – accidently type in a url in a search box instead of the URL box. This is the type in traffic they are attempting to steal. Go look at the stats of how often yahoo, google, or msn are looked up, and those are search engines.

InactiveHey Everyone,
Thank you all for you posts. Some of these site owners must come here to CAP because they removed the Captains Free Casinos from their titles. The best thing to do is post these scumbags here at CAP. Then if they don not remove they link or title then contact them directly. Do not be nice about it when you do if you know what I mean.March 4, 2005 at 11:39 pm #662404Anonymous
InactiveI will name and shame anyone that does this from now on.
And rightfully so……..scumbags :flush:
