InactiveThere’s still plenty of money to be made in this industry, but like most things in life, you’ll get out of it what you put into it.
You can make a profit buying advertising, but it’s difficult and expensive.
You can also make a profit by becoming extraordinarily good search engine optimizer.
The best way, IMO, to make it in this business is to target a narrow niche, learn all you can about it, and design the most authoritative and orginal website around that niche as you can. If you have lots of high quality content, you should be able to make some money.
Generating unique and high quality content is a lot of work though.
Good luck, and welcome!

InactiveI’m NO expert, however, I have managed to make a living in the industry. IMHO, and this is what I did, start with NO overhead. Use a free host first, like tripod, set up your site. Post about your site at key forums (don not spam though,) Sign up to free banner and link exchanges, submit to search engines,do your very best to keep your content fresh, always answer emails and let your site “cook” for awhile. I never paid out a penny for additional advertising until I made a penny. Hope this helps
Good luck.September 22, 2004 at 6:22 pm #655319Anonymous
InactiveI’m currently not active in gambling, but used to. Now, I do other industries, but will get back into gambling.
Just one thing I wanted to say though, I would not use a free host. Hosting is soo cheap nowadays. You can get hosting already for like $5 a months. And a domain only costs like $8 as well. I think that free hosting makes sites look cheap and it might turn players away.
But, that is just my personal opinion about hosting.September 22, 2004 at 6:43 pm #655321Anonymous
InactiveTrue, hosting is a lot less expensive than years ago, but I still think that little to no overhead is the best way to start, just my 2 cents.

InactiveI totally agree with you with your statement that as lillte overhead as possible is the best. But, if you are serious about it, investing $5 a month should be possible!

. . if you are serious about it, investing $5 a month should be possible! Also . . many affiliate programs will not accept you anymore unless you have a top level domain. They feel you don’t have a serious commitment to your business if you are using free hosting.
Free hosting doesn’t give the impression of a stable business.
Kind of a “here today, probably gone tomorrow” sort of connotation to it. :angry:Starting any business involves an investment of some sort, albeit a lot less in this business than in most. In this business the monetary investment can be as big or as small as you want it to be. The biggest investment will be your time! I have devoted literally thousands of hours to the success of my business over the past six years.
Other than that . . for the price of a domain name and inexpensive hosting . . voila, you’re in business.
Good Luck to you JW.

InactiveFree domains might turn away players, if I was to gamble away 3k in one night, I might not trust the recommendation of a geocities website. Furthermore a lot of webmasters wont exchange links with someone on a freewebhost, myself included.

InactiveTry submitting a hosting request to http://www.hosting-quote.com they generally send out more competitive quotes than listed on their sites.

InactiveTo get started in this industry you will not need oodles of cash to get you started. The biggest initial investment you need to make is time. It takes a long time to make a website, then if you go the SEO route you will have to wait another month or two to get properly indexed in Yahoo and Google. If you go the way of PPC engines you will need to spend alot of time monitoring your campaigns making sure you are receiving a decent ROI.

Please only keep the answers narrowed down to those with the respect and trust of the affliate community, you know….good reputations and relationships with its personal, good creditability, payments are almost always prompt and in full all the time, good customer service outlets and so and so forth. All the good component parts that make a awesome affliate program for potential big money earnings. Thanks to all who share in this love and business, I cannot thank you enough for your accomadating my requests and being ever so helpful in answering my questions. Thanks and god bless us all.

InactiveI recommend two programs:
Casinoblasters for casinos.
Party Poker for poker.
I’m happy to answer any questions you might have about either program, but I will say that if I hadn’t seen such good results with them when I started, I probably wouldn’t still be in this business. I still don’t have any other programs that perform as well for me.
