InactiveThat’s the best way to do it (search for news stories) as you want to keep visitors on your site. It of course it would take continuous coding/updating on your part to keep it current.
There’re other possibilities however such as syndicated news feeds which would not need to be updated by you. One of the more popular is Moreover httpx://www.moreover.com –
Using a syndicated feed most likely means your visitors will be directed off site and potentially to a competitor!

GuestWhat is the correct way to incorperate news in your site, if you do it yourself?
Is it ok to publish an article in whole if you include the reference, i.e. where it came from?

No.

InactiveIt is okay if you’re given permission in writing to reprint the article though.

InactiveThat said, most places, especially newspapers, are usually grateful for your using their articles if you credit them and link to them.

GuestI once found a very good article about online gambling. It was absolutely excellent, outlining the good and the bad sides to it. It took me almost a dozen emails to get any permission – the reporter had to get permission from the editor, etc.
For this, all I was asking for was to publish the first paragraph or so and then put a link to their url, where the article was published in full.
Maybe I didn’t even need permission to print introductory text with a link to them, I don’t know.
So, then I sent a couple of emails to moreover, and never recieved a reply.
Incorporating gambling news into my site was then put on the backburner, and I haven’t revisited that idea since.
One thing for sure, if you want to do the news thing on your own, by finding and updating yourself, you will have to expend considerable effort to obtain permissions.
I think it would be better to pay for a newsfeed, and find one that will incorporate the stories into your website, and doesn’t take the visitor off the page. It will surely cost more, but in my opinion, it would be worth it.

The web makes things easy. Say what an article is about, link to it, end of story.

GuestHow does it work if you re-write an article in your own words? That is kosher isn’t it?

InactiveCopyright laws are in place to protect not only the original author of a particular work, but for others who may wish to utilize that work for any number of reasons.
As Randy stated if its an article you wish to reprint its often as easy as contacting the author asking for permission.
Numerous news agencies state that you may reprint up to 3 paragraphs of an article so long as you link to the original document and provide proper credit. Again you should first request permission to do so …
If you are using the article on a non-business site and in a non for profit manner there are free-use laws that may permit you to use the properly credited materials without prior permission.

Inactiveno bb1 that is not cool – that is still considered plagiarism – you would still have to give credit in a bibliography stating where the “ideas” originated.

Who said anything about stealing? Most newspapers have policies published online or you can ask.

As far as “non news” site content – you can ask and usually get permission. For instance the wizard of odds has habitually given permission to copy IF you link.
There are advantages to producing unique content and letting people use it if they link.
