I pay for all the trips with money made working, and I usually close a deal or two while there that is more profitable yet.

Most people do not pay out of pocket – that is sad in a way because it is even more important to attend the lectures for people just entering the field.

Last year’s Vegas event was the first conference of this kind I’ve ever attended, and I came away with new ideas that I think made the cost of attending well worth it. I’ll be back this year.

My sites make enough to justify this expense, but I agree with Dominique here that the value of these events may be even more valuable for someone new to the biz. It’s somewhat ironic: The less you can afford it, the more you stand to benefit.

    Thanks for the quick response!

Yeah Vegas would be nice :)
It’s not in the cards for me this year though.

I suppose that if I actually get my site working and attracting customers I may be able to make it out next year.

I would at least like to attend a conference in Toronto or Montreal, as i’m right in the middle. Vegas, unfortunately, is a little out of my league for the time being.

These conventions sound very useful, not only for industry info, but for personal networking as well.

the thing they’re not telling you whois is that they all hire big tough guys named Guido to go in their place to meet aff managers and after getting them to down a lot of rot-gut whiskey mixed with gun powder, they send them off to meet the aff managers in a t-shirt that says “I really, really hate it when someone cheats me!”

    ask a silly question …..

    :)

    Hi,

I will be honest, when I went to the casino affiliate conference in Vancouver I learned nothing. But I did end up meeting a lot of great people and I had a blast. I finally could place faces behind iglobalmedia, slot land, etc.

I also could decide which program had the best type of relationship with thier affiliates. I really liked how down to earth Slot Land was, but in the meantime the Gambling Federation staff was too busy with thier models to take time off to talk to affiliates.

I did negotiate a couple commission increases. If the expenses were not tax deductible I probably would not attend. If you’re new to the industry I’m sure you might be able to gain some insight, I just found the information to be basic. I really didn’t need an hour long lecture by findwhat to teach me how to bids on PPC search engines for example.

    So true… LOL…

I made that first investment a long time ago – knowing I had to meet people and get to see products and operators, etc…

Ken is exactly right on this point. Which means, if you have to scrape up every last cent to go, try to do it.

There are no silly questions, only stupid answers.

    Right on BB1!!!!!!!!.

You need to go whoiscasino. Meeting the casinos affiliates and making friends is where it’s at, names with faces is always better than emails. You need a good working relationship with them.

Meeting all of the portal affiliates is where the fun is, and you will pick up new idea’s and learn a lot. Brain storming is good. Make deals, learn good idea’s, meet good friends, and have a good time.

Overall you could not buy this experience anywhere for the price.
You need to go to as many as you can and you will never regret it!!!!!!!!!:rasta:
