I started off with an ezboard forum and have since moved on to my own hosted sites, still focused on forums. I make my living from my pages now and have done exceptionally well with them considering I know its hard to make money from forum driven sites….. There are alot of downsides to them too but it’s what I enjoy doing and so I’ve managed to continue hosting them.
In general though, I think average the forums dont do as well as a regular affiliate site!
