InactiveSpearmaster, What keywords have you seen an inprovement for? Id guess they arent that competitive e.g. the serps you are on for those terms dont have a lot of ads on them ???
Example:
Neat tool on the site listed above …
http://www.scroogle.org/hitlist.html
For the search phrase “video poker” scroogle says 83 of the previous (pre-florida) top 100 sites have seen a decrease.

InactiveJust total weirdness going on. When you first posted this scroogle link videopokerplayer.com was showing it SHOULD be #6 for “video poker” but wasn’t in the top 100. Now it’s showing it is #46.
Meanwhile most or all of our newer sites that are listed nicely for some good terms, have stayed where they were.
Arkyt, what did you mean by “pre-florida” remember I am blonde LOLOLOLNovember 29, 2003 at 2:23 am #642178Anonymous
InactiveUpdate “Florida” is the name that has been given to this latest google update.
I like the format they use for this
Kinda like the tornado names…and google does some damage too!

vladcizsolMemberI live in Florida… Its a nice state… If they had to name this disaster after a state why not call it Arkansas? Or North Dakota?

Inactivecould of called it “update iraq” or give it one of those cool attack plan names “operation adwords” …
Ellen – are any of the keywords you have improved in or stayed static considered highly competitive? E.G. do the SERP’s have 5+ ads on them? It seems the only phrases I held ground for are the ones that are not that competitive.

InactiveArkyt,
we kept good ranking for terms like video poker progressives, video poker promotions, and actually “poker” we’re still #38 which shocked me.
But the other sites, the new ones I was talking about, kept their rank for some pretty good poker tournament terms…do the SERP’s have 5+ ads on them
You’re gonna have to explain that one to me too! Dean is busy working and I don’t dare bother him right now! LOL

InactiveId say those arent considered “competitive terms” except of course “poker” but it seems google didnt do much with single word search terms, just phrases.
The 2 phrases you still do good in only have 2 ads in the SERPs
SERPs = search engine results pages
“Video Poker” Has 8 on the right and 2 up top … so Google seen this as an opportuntity to make some extra $$$$ by getting the bids up. All they had to do was make the results irrelevant and plan on users buying and bidding up the ads.
The way I see it is if they want to hit us in the pockets we should hit them right back – BOYCOTT adwords – if they dont get bid up their plan will be a failure!

InactiveNo ads at all for any of them including poker and video poker.

InactiveCorrect deaning – thats what I would have expected to see.
Google didnt see a supply/demand for those terms through their adwords campaigns so they left them alone.
For any term/phrases that showed potential for extra money making via increased bids or increased word buys – Google
sent 70%+ of sites to the bottom of the SERPs in exchange for what some of us consider irrelevant results.

InactiveHas anyone else noticed this trend.
Websites I at one time had an adwords campaign for have dissapeared. The ones that didn’t can still be found.
This is of course on top of what arkyt mentionned. I’ve also noticed competitive 3 word terms get burried.

InactiveThe increase came in extremely competitive 2-word keyphrases. But the increase only likely came about because of the exclusion of other sites, since I had not done any work.
As to the term “Florida update” – it refers to one of two things – lots of hanging Chads, or lots of spammers.

InactiveAntoine, it’s not that. My site is MIA and I have never ever had an Adwords campaign on it.
Strange thing though… My site is missing for some major search-phrases. However, traffic from Google is still about the same…
