Google Teams Up with U.S. Government

May 12, 2010 (CAP News Wire) – In a piece of news that probably means very little (the government signing up an ad partner to help pay for a public service during a time of low revenues) but will probably be interpreted to mean very much (the all-powerful Google finds another way to work itself into American business), Google has reportedly teamed up with the U.S. government for a co-branding scheme with the economically important Small Business Administration (SBA).

Under the terms of the agreement, the new SBA web page will apparently offer Google tips about “how to succeed online.”

While it really can’t be argued that Google is perfectly qualified to give out such advice, some no doubt will see it a further sign that Google’s power is seemingly without limits. It now dominates almost every facet of online business, and with this deal, it’s going to start creeping into the public sector, as well.

“The site doesn’t promote Google as the only means of online success,” states LastClickNews. “However, there are about 10 topics — including video and text — that promote Google.”
