WSOP 2009 Seats From Online Casino

Antigua-based BodogLife.com became the first online casino to award seats to next year's World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event last week through its Mini Series promotion.

The Kahnawake-licensed site's Mini Series consisted of 25 tournaments through its poker sub-site that mirrored the hold 'em events taking place at the WSOP 2008 only with buy-ins that were one percent of those in Las Vegas. The last in the series was an invitational tournament that took place after the Mini Series' Main Event and awarded three seats to next year's festival of poker in Las Vegas worth $12,000 each.

Three online players, ‘pokerfanx789', ‘dudix' and ‘Boswan', beat 24 other contestants to win the VIP packages, which include their $10,000 Main Event buy-in along with travel and accommodation expenses.

‘Team Bodog players had an amazing run at this year’s WSOP in Las Vegas and we’re already gearing up for next summer by awarding three seats to the 2009 Main Event,’ said Alwyn Morris, Chief Executive Officer for owners Morris Mohawk Gaming Group.

"The three winners of our Mini Series are guaranteed an experience like no other in Las Vegas as they compete for a shot at poker stardom and millions of dollars.’

Of the 27 players competing for the three seats, BodogLife.com revealed that 18 were from semi-final qualifiers with five from a wild-card drawing of those that had competed in at least three Mini Series events. The final four competitors earned their way into the event by finishing on top of the Mini Series leaderboard.
