Crackdown on Backgammon Bots

May 18, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — In an effort to help eliminate bots from its online backgammon gaming system, Play65.com has formed an advisory board to help investigate suspicious behavior, the company announced today.

This board “includes objective world-class professional Backgammon players that are not part of Play65.com employees,” the company stated in a news release today.

Unfortunately, as online gaming sites increase in popularity, they will inevitably attract more bots, which are automated applications programmed to win at online games via various unfair methods. Prevention of bots is becoming more and more necessary in online gaming in order to safeguard players and the companies themselves.

Play65’s board will investigate any account that is suspected of bot usage, and then provide a ruling on whether or not the account should be closed.

The board consists of Robert Wachtel, author of 'In the Game until the End: Winning in Ace-Point End-Games'; Masayuki Mochizukia, member of the Japanese Backgammon League; and Michael "Falafel" Natanzon, a world-famous backgammon commentator and tutor.
