Zynga Real Money Gambling Ready for Takeoff

Zynga is staking its future on real money and, with this week’s launch of ZyngaPlusPoker and ZyngaPlusCasino, they’ll find out if that gamble pays off.
The two sites are standalone gambling sites and only available to UK players over the age of 18. ZyngaPlusPoker is a standard online poker that features a variety of games and tournaments while ZyngaPlusCasino includes 160 casino games.
These sites represent a major step forward for the struggling game maker as it tries to step out of the social gaming niche and into the real money market online. Besides real money ventures in the UK, Zynga has also applied for a Nevada gaming license and is expected to get the nod gaming regulators some time this year.
Zynga is also expected to launch a Facebook-only, real money gambling product called Ultimate Slots in a few months. Ultimate Slots is designed to incorporate social gaming elements along with real money slot play.
All of these efforts are aimed at pleasing Zynga’s shareholders and, so far, that’s exactly what’s been happening. On Wednesday afternoon, Zynga stock was up 15% and trading at $3.53.
