William Hill opens New Mexico sportsbook

UK operator William Hill is continuing its deep probe of the US sports betting market with the launch of a new sportsbook at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino at a New Mexico Indian reservation. The casino, which is operated by the Mescalero Apache Tribe is the third in the Land of Enchantment to offer its players regulated sports betting.
The launch of William Hill’s latest sportsbook was marked with festivities that included a guest appearance by Holly Holm, a New Mexico local and former UFC champion. Holm lay down some of the operation’s first sports action with a bet on Chris Cyborg to win his bout at UFC 240. (She won that bet when Cyborg defeated Felicia Spencer in the third round.) Holm also dropped $100 on a futures bet with the hope that the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl.
David Grolman, President of Retail for William Hill US celebrated the event saying, “Working with the Mescalero Apache Tribe and the National Indian Gaming Commission on this partnership agreement was important to us. Inn of the Mountain Gods is one of the premier resorts and casinos in the southwest and together we plan to bring a first-class experience to sports fans in the region,” according to a report on LegalSportsBetting.com.
Of course William Hill has plenty to celebrate when it comes to the recently opened US regulated sports betting market. William Hill has developed a large footprint across the US, but especially west of the Mississippi. They’re looking to launch new operations in Iowa before the start of US football season.
