Carruthers at the time of his arrest.

David Carruthers, CEO BETonSPORTS
In 2006, David Carruthers went from successful gaming executive to Federal inmate in the blink of an eye.
The Scottish-born BETonSPORTS CEO was nabbed by the Department of Justice while changing flights in Dallas, Texas and charged with a laundry list of crimes, including racketeering.
Carruthers’ Kafkaesque odyssey through the US legal system (which included 42 months under house arrest) is all the more maddening for him in light of the fact that his activities are perfectly legal in his homeland.
After a series of fits and starts, Carruthers was eventually sentenced to 33 months in prison and was released in 2012.
Since regaining his freedom, Carruthers has become an advocate of regulated gambling and an avid runner.
