What If…Google Didn’t Exist?
Mapquest Would Still Be a Thing
Before Google had mapped every square inch of the planet, Internet users relied on low-tech (by today’s standards) map services like MapQuest to find their way to job interviews and house parties.
Google Maps’ launch back in 2005 was a game-changer for mapping sites and has been setting the bar for that niche ever since.
While there’s little doubt that the Mapquest crowd would have eventually come up with something as slick and sophisticated as GoogleMaps, it may have taken them a while to get there.
