It can be tough to get Google to notice your site. In fact, at times it seems impossible.

When you post new content, no matter how original, creative, or hot it is, you’re finding it takes forever to get your new pages in Google’s index. You need help.

So as a site owner and an online marketer, you need to do everything you can to make sure the search engine spiders notice your site and your fresh, original and interesting content.

One of the best ways to get your site noticed quickly, and to increase your backlinks,
is to use blog commenting. This helps you build your overall popularity while capitalizing on the popularity of someone else’s blog.

However, you need to be sure that you’re spending your time and energy posting on the right blogs. These should be blogs in your niche with good PageRank and lively comment threads.

How to find relevant blogs

There are two ways to find relevant blogs in your niche. The first is through search. When I’m looking for a blog about casinos, I’ll use the following search query: url:blog “post a comment” -”comments closed” -”you must be logged in” “casino”

You can swap your keywords for casino when searching in your niche. Also, this query will work better in some niches than others.

Another technique you can use to find active blogs is using Google Alerts. To do this, go to Google Alerts and follow these instructions:

1. Under “Search Terms,” enter your keywords.
2. Under “type,” select “blogs.”
3. Under “how often,” select “once a day.” (You can do more if you wish!)
4. Under “volume,” select “all results.” (You might want to change this to “only the best results” based on the volume of alerts sent to you.)
5. And finally, under “deliver to,” select the email you want the message delivered to.

Writing and entering your comments

Since I haven’t mentioned comment spam yet, it’s important to clarify that this method is not an excuse to comment spam multiple websites with dull, misleading or useless comments. In fact, this strategy will work best if you only post comments on sites that are relevant to your niche and comments are good enough to be approved by the site owner.

When you find a site that’s relevant and that allows comments, you’ll want to read the article you’re commenting on first before you leave your comment. And to assure that your comment is considered, make it a good one. Engage the other commenters. Add to the discussion.

Here are examples of a not-so-good and a good comment:

Not-so-good comment: Great post. Keep up the good work.

Good comment: I agree that the New Jersey legislation presents a great opportunity for online gambling affiliates. But I am really hoping for the day when we can see such legislation at a national level.

Keyword relevance

And when you’re writing a great comment, you want to keep your comment relevant to the keyword strategy of your site. So if you’re linking back to an online bingo site, make sure you’re not commenting on an online poker blog.

Some people who have recommended this technique in the recent past have advised putting your site keywords into the name field. That supposedly helps by creating keyword-rich anchor text. However, because this makes your post look like comment spam, you could find yourself having most of your comments rejected.

Don’t overpost

Another potential risk is overdoing a thing that seems too good to be true. While this might seem like a quick and easy way to go from page 10 to page 1, be careful. Like all other aspects of your link building strategy, starting off with a slow, steady and consistent habit is the best way to boost your rankings in the search engines over time. We recommend using this technique no more than twice a day for the best results.
