The first live Unibet Open tournament in Malta was held earlier in March; the next are scheduled for Barcelona (June 9-12), Dublin (August 25-28) and Riga (December 1-4).
Qualification for the UO Barcelona event is also underway at Unibet, with freerolls and €2 feeders every day, and packages of €2,500 value up for grabs. Those packages include four nights accommodation in Barcelona, a buy-in to the €1,500 + €150 main event, daily breakfast and dinner, and an extra €300 towards travel expenses.
“In mid-March Mateusz Moolhuizen of Holland won the first live Unibet Open main event of 2011 taking down €117,000 for his victory in Malta,” Unibet reps explain.
“Moolhuizen topped the 293-strong field in the €1,650 buy in event which created a prize pool of €417,525 at the Casino at Portomaso on the Mediterranean island on Sunday, clinching his victory with the heads up defeat of fellow Dutchman Tobias Peters.”
Remember, online tournaments are a powerful marketing tool for poker affiliates looking to generate niche traffic and build conversions.
Thanks largely to the popularity of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), and the success of online players in that event, online qualifiers for real-world poker tournaments is one of the most powerful tool in the poker affiliate marketer’s arsenal.
