May 26, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — Since the United Kingdom’s Gambling Commission first started keeping track four years ago, this year's percentage of adults who enjoy some form of online gambling is at its highest point ever, reports InterGameOnline.com.
According to a recent survey, 9.9 percent of adults in the U.K. have gambled on the Internet within the past year. Almost half of this figure is from those making lottery purchases, the report clarifies. The online lottery segment represents the fastest-growing sector of online gaming.
By contrast, it’s estimated that the percentage of online gamblers in the U.S. is only about 2 percent.
