HSP Lineup Decided

December 14, 2008 (InfoPowa News) — The fifth edition of the High Stakes Poker television series will be televised at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino, with filming taking place later this month, Gameshow Network has announced. Screening dates will be advised later.

Last week, the network unveiled its very impressive list of players for the new series, all of whom will pay the massive buy-in of $200,000 for the privilege of competing with the best of the best … and winning the major first prize.

Heading the list are veterans like Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson, and Eli Elezra, but exciting newcomers include Internet nosebleed stakes thriller Tom "Durrr" Dwan and the youngest player ever to win the World Series of Poker, Peter Eastgate of Denmark. The man who pressed Eastgate to the limit in their WSOP Main Event heads up earlier this year, Ivan Demidov, has also indicated that he will be competing. Other big money risk takers like Patrik Antonius, David Benyamine, and Dario Minieri will all be chasing the main prize.

Celebrity players on the list include film director Simon Cassavetes and co-creator of the cartoon characters The Simpsons, Sam Simon.

Some of poker's best known names and faces will be playing in the series, as a look at the rest of the list illustrates:

Mike Baxter
Antonio Esfandiari
Barry Greenstein
Phil Ivey
Phil Laak
Howard Lederer
Giorgio Medici
Daniel Negreanu
Ilari Sahamies
Bob Safai
