How Gamblers Can Make Money From Affiliate Marketing
Many online gamblers quite obviously have a penchant for making money online. But many fail to realize they can make money in affiliate marketing.
On a personal note, I have been a semi-professional poker player for seven years and throughout this time I have made money as a poker affiliate. I feel sorry for my fellow poker pros who do not have this supplemental source of income. They don’t know what they are missing out on and are always shocked to learn how much money exists in online advertising. There have been plenty of years where I made more money being an affiliate marketer than I did from actually playing the games myself!
So the question remains, how to make money by affiliate marketing? Here is a step-by-step guide with some thoughts on how to break into the world of affiliate marketing.
Find Your Audience
The first step to succeeding as an affiliate marketer is to find your audience. You need to create a highway that actually leads to somewhere in order for people to drive on it. Once there is traffic, you can put up billboards. But first think about the road.
Think about how you can add value to others. News, information and entertainment are all things people look for. A site I help run, PokerTips.org, offers poker strategy and information to our visitors. What can you offer to visitors?
Take a rifle-like approach to finding an audience. Have a clearly defined target for what you are trying to build and go for it. Create a portal that offers something unique and valued and traffic will soon follow.
Getting Started
Getting started in affiliate marketing is fairly easy. There are no complicated application requirements or thresholds. iGaming sites are pretty willing to let anyone try bringing them traffic.
Look through the CAP affiliate program guide to find programs worth promoting. You will have more success promoting some places than others, but it’s always a game of trial-and-error to find the best places to promote.
Stay Educated
Working as an affiliate marketer might seem like an easy way to make big money, but it actually requires a lot of work. Only those who treat it with the dedication of a full-time job find lasting success as an affiliate marketer. If you fall asleep at the wheel, goodbye income.
Stay connected and stay relevant by keeping up with industry news, networking with fellow marketers, and interacting on the CAP forums. There is a ton of valuable information created for affiliates on a daily basis. Keep an eye tuned to resources that will keep you in high supply of information needed to succeed with your business. (Tip: CAP is a great resource, so you’re off to a great start).
Homegrown Roots
Breaking into the world of affiliate marketing can seem a bit overwhelming. A great place to start is through refer-a-friend campaigns. Almost all iGaming sites offer incentive to players to refer their friends. This is Affiliate Marketing 101. If you can first succeed in getting your friends to convert to iGaming sites, getting strangers to do the same becomes a little easier.
Ultimately, it’s best to think of the strangers you are sending to iGaming sites as your friends too. Keeping a focus on player retention will lead to more revenues for you in the long run. Indeed, succeeding as an affiliate marketer requires one to be hospitable.
Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Take baby steps to reach your goals and eventually you’ll travel miles. Best of luck!

Oh, that’s kinda embarrassing:P
Well since you ask:
1) I would really like to see more case in dept studies of SEO/User Interface Design/social marketing cases.
2) More in-dept interviews with SEOers/marketers.
Sorry if you feel I was a bit rude, but all the articles, I have dropped by lately, have given me the feeling of being kinda superficial..
In sort, i want larger and more in dept articles:)
Have nice weekend.
