March 26, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — Several media sources today are reporting that the details of Full Tilt Poker’s latest Online Poker Series (FTOPS) have been announced.
The latest FTOPS will kick off on May 6 and will include $18 million in guaranteed prize pools over 25 events, reports Bluff Magazine.
The schedule has all the standard FTOPS trademarks: six tournaments that guarantee at least $1 million; a $2,500 + $120 buy-in, two-day event with a $2 million guarantee; and a $500 + $35 buy-in "main event" that features a guaranteed prize pool of $2.5 million.
For the casual (or thrifty) gamers, the tournament will also offer "MiniFTOPS," 25 additional events set up the same as the standard FTOPS schedule but with buy-ins that are 10 percent of the main event’s costs.
"Another new twist for players with FTOPS XII is the inclusion of FTOPS Challenges,” writes Lance Bradley at Bluff. “Players will be rewarded with special prizes for completing certain tasks while playing in any of the events. One such task is the Zero to Hero Challenge which will award prizes for players who are able to turn $1 into an FTOPS buy-in and subsequent in-the-money finish in that event."
