Fortune Poker Closing

Fortune Poker is closing its doors on March 31 after nine years in the online poker business.
Though no specific reasons were cited, a brief announcement on the company’s site suggested that Fortune was another victim of the poker downturn that’s impacted online and land-based casinos alike. Here’s what the company said about the impending closure:

With many changes in the online gaming industry, it has been a struggle to continue to support our players and affiliates to the fullest. While we have grown very fond of our Players, Partners and Affiliates – we regret to inform you that Fortune Poker has made the unfavorable decision to close its gaming/poker operations.

That statement also included a timeline of events to help affiliates and players cash out their accounts.
Fortune Poker executives are planning to have all affiliate partners paid off by April 10 and any affiliates with questions about pending payments are advised to e-mail jen@fortunepoker.com as soon as possible.
As it stands, players can continue participating in poker and blackjack until March 31. Players will be able to access the site’s cashier until April 2 (though all rakebacks and VIP bonuses will be automatically credited to players accounts on April 1.)
While it’s sad to see a business of any kind going under, Fortune Poker should be applauded for its efforts to make certain that affiliates and players are paid out.
