Chartwell Appoints New C.O.O.

October 23, 2008 (InfoPowa News) — Canadian online gambling software provider Chartwell Technology has announced the promotion of Dave Acorn, its VP of Software Development, as Chief Operating Officer.

Acorn's new responsibilities include oversight of all operational aspects of Chartwell's broad product design, development and deployment, as well as the firm's expanding client services capabilities.

Acorn joined Chartwell in 1999 and has previously managed product design, client services, and, most recently, software development.

He holds an Honours diploma in Internet Object Oriented Software Engineering from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technolgy and has an extensive background in Internet and e-commerce development and design in the IT industry, where he previously specialized in Web development and owned his own Web development company.

"The Chief Operating Officer position is new for Chartwell and reflects our intention to accelerate and expand our product offering and our client services capabilities," said Darold H. Parken, President & CEO of Chartwell Technology.

"Dave has developed a uniquely comprehensive online gaming expertise and will be a key driver of our focus on delivery. We are also very fortunate to have attracted Clinton Begin to assume the leadership of our world-class development team. The depth of Clinton's technical knowledge and his dynamic management style will provide a springboard for our aggressive plans for expansion."

Acorn's former position as VP Software Development has been filled by Clinton Begin, formerly a senior developer with organizations like ThoughtWorks, Microsoft, and Stanford University. With a wide range of experience in business and technology, Begin has applied agile methodologies, open source software, Java, .NET and Ruby to the development of large-scale applications and is an experienced author who has delivered formal presentations and training from San Francisco to New York City.
