Bet365 Cracks Mexican market with Bet365.mx

Bet365 is officially a player in the emerging Latin American online gambling market with the launch of its Bet365.mx site. It’s a major move for one of the world’s top gambling operators and a significant move forward for regulated online gambling in densely populated Mexican market.
The new site is being launched as part of a partnership with Ganador Azteca (Aztec Winner), a Mexican gambling operator that comes to the table with a pretty impressive pedigree. Ganador Azteca is part of the TV Azteca media empire, which casts a very shadow over the Mexican market. TV Azteca’s main competitor is the even larger Televisa brand, which is also operating an online gambling site.
Under the Mexican gaming law, TV Azteca was granted a 25-year gaming license just last year. On that license, the company was able to open one land-based casino (which is already operating in Veracruz), as well as a single online gambling site, which Bet365.mx fulfills.
According to a report on CalvinAyre.com, TV Azteca’s license was amended last year so that the company could work with an outside partner like Bet365 to, “…operate individually or with one or more operators, to collect bets through various domains or various internet sites.” The wording on the license was altered again to specifically open the door for TV Azteca to help launch Bet365.mx.
Bet365 is one of the first major gambling operators to grab a toe hold in the Mexican market, but they’re not likely to be the last. Many in the industry see Latin America as a significant emerging market and an opportunity to help make up for revenue losses sustained by the regulatory crackdowns in the UK market.
