Atlantic City Presses On With Mobile Gaming

Mobile Gaming
Place Your Bets Anywhere In The Casino

Over the summer NJ Governor Chris Christie signed into legislation the ability for casino patrons to gamble on mobile devices anywhere in the casino or resort, whether it be at the pool or in their hotel rooms.

But this could take until the end of the year before anyone will actually be playing as the Division of Gaming Enforcement must prepare and enact specific regulations governing mobile device gambling.

Not everyone is turned on as Tropicana Casino and Resort president Tony Rodio, who also heads the Casino Association of New Jersey says, “I don’t think it’s a big game changer, it’s similar to Internet gaming but within the four walls.”

Furthermore, casinos have found particularly in Las Vegas that mobile devices are most popularly used for sports betting.  The big advantage of allowing patrons to use mobile devices for gaming is that, “Customers can take the games along with them” as, stated by Republican bill sponsor Assemblyman Chris Brown.

There will be certain technical restrictions with the devices and the software will not be on an individuals cell phone for example.  The technology will only work on the casino property and will not function anywhere else.
