2012 Gambling Mid-Year Report

So far 2012 has been a very active year for anyone involved in the gambling industry. Legalization and liberalization efforts across the globe are starting to bear fruit for affiliates and casino partners.
Here’s a quick wrap-up of the big stories that gaming industry insiders and affiliate partners are talking about.
New Jersey Goes Rogue
If you’re a sports betting affiliate, you’re definitely following events in the Garden State very closely. Last fall voters approved a bill allowing Atlantic City casinos and horse tracks to accept sports bets, if the Federal ban is lifted. It was a radical move, but not radical enough for New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
A couple weeks ago he announced that he wasn’t going to bother with a lengthy court battle and that sports betting would be legal in time for football season. Christie must like the odds of staying on top this since he stated, “If someone wants to stop us, then let them try to stop us.” Now all he needs is a casino that shares his enthusiasm for confrontation. (So far there are no takers.)
