Default Large differences in clicks for different programs

Hi all,

This is something I have been wondering about for quite some time. I notice that the amount of visitors/clicks I get for each casino program differ enormously. Of course, it is obvious that there are differences between the programs but I can't explain the large differences that I get.

For example:
If I have the same exposure for the casinos of Euro Partners, Affiliate Lounge, Casino Coins and 888 then I would expect the amount of visitors for each casino to be more or less equal (over a longer period of time). However, it seems to me that Europartners and Affiliate Lounge register far more visitors (up to 10 times more) then for example Casino Coins and 888.

This was just an example, I note large this differences between many programs I use and I really feel this is not solely because of differences in exposure for the casinos on my sites. Are there more people experiencing this? Maybe, there are differences in the way the different program measure the visitors/clicks? Or any other possible cause?

Thanks!

"Equal exposure" doesn't necessarily mean that an equal amount of people are actually going to click on the banners/ads. Nothing of the sort. There's a lot more to the equation.

Before you start jumping to conclusions, you really need to take a scientific approach to tracking your traffic. Guessing and assuming will get you nowhere on this one.

Install an outbound click-tracker, or better yet, an advertising management system. A decent free one is www.openads.org.

Once you can actually see how many impressions-vs-clicks you're getting for each banner of each casino, you'll be in a better position to make an informed judgement about what is, and what is not working on your sites.

Sorry if that sounds a bit narky, but it's just the truth of the matter
Hope it helps.

I think some programs inflate the amount of clicks also I've noticed that with my click tracker, the affiliate programs that ALWAYS have quite a few more clicks than I have outbound are: Affiliate programs with a Playtech backend.

Not sure why, but it is always the case. Even with 0 clicks, they always somehow register anywhere from 3-10.

Apart from possible tracking snafus, this can be valuable in determining what type of promos your particular type of traffic likes to see.

Do these places have different types of promos?
How do the promos match up with your keywords?

Whereby you don't want to stop analysis with clicks, but extend to player quality they produce for you.

What is the player value resulting from each promo?

That's the actual bottom line.

Just because a particular program decides that for itself a certain type promo brings certain results, it doesn't mean it holds true for your traffic.

I have thought of that too and am fairly certain that some bots run the links an some programs see them as a visitor and not a bot. like google bot...

Thanks for the responses!

I think that indeed the Playtech casinos report higher click numbers than the actual numbers but the idea that clicks just differ for each promotion also sounds realistic. Therefore, I will try such an ad management package as is suggested. My only concern with this is performance. Isn't the extra step of registering the click in my own db going to influence the loading time of the new page for my visitors (because the extra step has to be handled before actually leaving my site)?
