Default Is a signature worth it

I know links in your signature help with a free back link but does anyone here actually pay attention to people's signatures and importantly do you click them. I am just wondering how much effort I should put into updating my signature

I've noticed from stats programs that I get referal from CAP, but it's useless traffic. People are curious about what other people are doing, is all.

I think probably AM's look and click on those more than affiliates, but I could be wrong. I would think affiliates would look at the signatures as well in order to see if they would be interested in linking to that particular affiliate's website or doing some sort of exchange.

I rarely ever click on them. Maybe twice a year I get curious about someone.

I see a moderate number of clicks from CAP in my stats.

I also think mostly aff managers click, and newbies looking at what other affs do.

i do think it is useful to see what/how other people are doing the same thing.

most importantly, when someone is making a "conflicting" post without a signature this would largely undervalue their statement in my eyes...if i got no opinion of where they are coming from then they got no say in bashing someone in public. i could be wrong though, but i still wear no socks when i don't have to

Free back link? Ssshhh, pipe down will you?!?

Actually, I find the signatures useful, always good to see what other people are up to!

Good poll. I removed the bulk of my sites from my Sig here because I found that more often than not as soon as I listed my site, it would soon get scraped.

I think that BH affiliates click on them... Then use different web grabbers to grab all content from the site

I've read in several SEO forums that signature links can be helpful if they provide relevant anchor texts.

However, after looking at several SERPs of the signatures' anchor texts I didn't see their linked sites ranked in top positions.

Absolutely worth it. I find good partners that way. You can almost figure out what their site will be like by the post. Intelligent posters normally have very nice sites and they usually DO rank.... my 2cents....
