Thread: This is hard work!

Hi

I'd appreciate some thoughts on the content of my site. I was told when I started that it wasn't going to be easy and I have to say it is time consuming but satisfying as each new page is uploaded. I'm learning as I go but would appreciate some comments both positive and negative!

I thought the hard bit was actually creating the site but I now realise its just as hard to fill it with decent content! I've a way to go....

This is so true. I'm having to challenge myself every day to keep coming up with content.

As to your site, it looks fine, but when I tried to leave it, I got a new browser window opening up, which I then had to kill in order to move on. Speaking as an internet 'user', I absolutely hate those sorts of pop ups and refuse to visit sites which do that as it just reeks of 'spammy-ness' . It could just be a personal pet peeve, but I honestly don't think you get more signups or conversions from those things, just more people who will actively avoid your site.

Thanks for your comments Sisko. I've included a pop under and understand where you are coming from. I've yet to make my mind up about it and agree that it may stop people actually coming back to the site. I was hoping that as it popped under and only appeared once per browser session that it wouldn't be too intrusive. Its certainly an issue to think about in more detail.... Thanks for the review.

Thanks for pointing that out Roo. I've actually only just completed the glossary and have yet to upload it. Building an affiliate site is a little like painting a room in a house.....you think you will be able to get through it in no time and then find you've been working solid for a while and haven't even finished one wall!

It depends on what type site you are aiming to build, but I've been building one for 5 years. It never ends unless you just stop and move on.
