A federal judge recently ruled that The Wire Act of 1961 did not apply to online gambling in the broad sense that it was recently, in late 2018, reinterpreted to apply to.

The state of New Hampshire, on behalf of their state lottery board, sued the United States of America’s DoJ over their broad reaching ruling which threated the very core of interstate gambling, in all forms.

    New Hampshire won the case!

The federal judge’s decision was limited in scope, and only applies to the state of New Hampshire, but it definitely opens up the door for other states to sue the DoJ and more easily get favorable rulings in their favor due to precedent.

These rulings should give extra legal protection to all forms of interstate gaming. Online poker for example will benefit greatly in its quest for greater state wide regulation, as the intermingling of state player pools will result in the the accumulation of large, liquid player pools necessary for continuous games, high stakes games large tournament guarantees, et cetera.

    Lets hope this trend continues!
