Rumor has it (and it is a rumor at this time) that several programs met in Amsterdam and decided that affiliates had too good a deal and they decided on a course of action.

We just saw Money Mechanics reneg on their contract – going as far as saying they would COMPLETELY STOP PAYMENT on players WE sent if we don’t keep sending more on a monthly basis. So much for life time player promises.

If the above rumor proves to be true, you will see more of the same from other programs.

Of course they will coddle their top producers to try to maintain their main income, and they figure after an initial fall-out the talk will die down and new affiliates will sign up under the new deal because they don’t know any better.

Same thing the rake back pokers figure.

Looks like it’s the season to screw affiliates.

Very bad timing, with the lack of advertising venues and all.

I have more advertising inquiries than ever, and I surely will not deal with any programs who withhold payments alltogether for whatever reason when they advertise life time income, as well as those who advertise a certain commission percentage but allow other affiliates to underbid this until it ceases to be profitable.

Some very worrisome developments in the industry. I am going to start accepting new, smaller programs who treat affiliates well. I will drop programs that reneg on agreements, as well as rake back pokers who allow underbidding of the revshare they pretend to offer.

I am very disappointed in this industry anymore and I am going to start seriously exploring other sources of online income. We take all kinds of legal and financial risks – we deserve to be treated with respect and honesty.

OMG this unreal!! They cannot be serious, that is a load of crap! I am fed up myself with chasing down money that is due to me, and hearing the cry baby stories on why payments are late or not paid at all.

Then the deal with “big fish” always getting first dibs on new casinos that are launced for a month before the rest of the affilates is on my last nerve too.

If these guys want to take this course of action then affiliates will surely start promoting Poker rooms that respect and want to work with affiliates.

Im also very curious to hear who has been trying to collude.

Fortune Affiliates is certainly not part of any cloak and dagger drama.

If you have any info on the industry players, please name and shame !

    Thanks

Hehe…As a matter of fact, I would love it to be true, and I think it’s quite possible… There are some aff. programs which now think they got it made, and if this is true, this action would definitelly weed them out :satisfied

If an aff. program does this to me, I will not take them of my website at all. I will blacklist them right on my homepage, and I am sure others would do the same, thus driving them down to the ground!

I don’t think it was poker rooms in specific who had the meeting – it was affiliate programs.

I am trying to find out who all exactly but haven’t yet.

Anyone who knows more – please let me know. I will not give up your identity.

Once a second program comes out with these restrictions I will have a much better idea – but I am hoping that the reaction we have shown to Money Mechanics will stop this development cold.

Money Mechanics shame on you!!!! I hope you will be re-thinking this bad choice you have made when we signed up it was for life and that is it bottom line, it is way unfair of you to go changing rules on us!!!

Jeff your program rules and I have never no complaints, it is nice to know that there are programs out here that we can always count on to be on our side.

Well guys, we had Money Mechanics change their rules for payment to the detriment of new affiliates, then we had Vegas Partners combine the casinos which is bad for everyone’s income, and today I received a letter from Fortune which also describes how our income will be cut.

Several other affiliate programs are feeling the waters asking their affs how they feel about changes in payment.

This is the fallout from the secret Amsterdam meeting.

Independently from this, we have one program removing players from accounts after 60 days of inactivity, we have the phrase “for life” disappearing quietly from some T&Cs, and we have many of the poker rooms expecting affiliates to pay for the player incentives (rake back)

Are the casinos and pokers really not profitable anymore? Is the financial squeeze from the DOJ having the desired impact? It doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense for the gambling operators to strangle the one efficient advertising vehicle they have left – affiliates.

I should think our partners would discuss these things with us and get input on the matter. I should think that our partners are in the same boat with us. If they sink us, will they swim safely?

I am very seriously considering leaving the industry. It’s either that or try to stem the tide of anti affiliate decisions. Our income is being cut from all sides. If someone is prepared to make a serious offer on Gamesandcasino.com, I will take it under serious consideration.

I agree that all of the recent changes are very disturbing, particularly Party Poker and their total disregard to the request for clarification, but what this type of thing creates is a tremendous opportunity for medium sized programs to step up and take the place of the ones changing for the worst. The recent changes at Pokerroom are a good example. They have actually improved their affiliate agreement and with some of these other changes I think they will grow faster than the competition. If a site like PokerStars decided to open a revshare program that was decent, they could easily take over Party within the next year. If I ran a casino or poker room I would be selling the plan to affiliates instead of screwing them.

So who wants to step up and earn affiliates business instead of forcing us to look elsewhere?

This is a very easy thing to deal with.

Vote with your feet. Promote someone else. And if a Microgaming group decides to renege on something retroactively, contact eCOGRA.

Party – JHChrist. I’ve just got done spending a lot of time building pages for different sites with them to be the feature room. I’ll be damned if I’m going to lose players to their new sinkhole because these players make a large deposit that lasts them a while, or are good players and do not need to have frequent deposits. I’ve seen players that make one deposit for multiple thousands and I’ve seen players that deposit $100 and make it last for months.

But the main problem I have with it is that it is one thing to make new terms or amend the terms for brand new afilliates. Quite another to bug the heck out of people to sign with you and then change them. I’ve been in this for about a year now, seriously about 10 months. And I’ll bet at least half of the programs I had started with I will not work with again. They either have stats that border on unbelievable when comparing to my own or do something silly like ask us to take less money (usually calling it something different or denying it altogether) when they are making it hand over fist.

Completely agree about Poker Stars. They’ve got a good thing going and probably don’t see the need for more help on the affiliate side but it would not take much to put them over the top. Lack of revenue share and their stats are the biggest drawback as far as getting affiliates. Maybe they don’t want to pay rev. share for lifetime but they could start a similar program that paid that for say a year for each player and I’ll bet some affiliates would give them a shot.

Another problem with poker is in a lot of cases you don’t get paid for tournaments, which are a huge part of an online poker room. I’ve started looking for programs that pay on this aspect and also do not go along with the rake back deals. I will probably not make as much right now, because it is harder to get poker players to play a lot or stay with a room that doesn’t have a lot of people/games. But in the long run, if they stick to the terms you signed up under, have good software, and decent promotion, eventually they will pay off. Also, Imo they are less likely to go bust one day because they’ve made it their habit of screwing people. I figure if they do it to some of their marketing people they’ll do it to the players too eventually.

I understand where you’re at as far as maybe going into another line of items to sell. I’ve already started that and the only time I’ve seen someone change their terms was one program increasing the pay for their affiliates across the board. And another thing, it is always much better to deal with a program like Commission Junction, who is truly independent and has thousands of companies you can apply to, running your tracking/stats, than so called affiliate companies that are basically part of the company you are trying to sell. That’s the way they appear to me anyway, the gambling related affiliate programs.

This trend may only get worse as the consolidation continues.

I have noticed my Captain Cook account drop even though I have sent

more customers. Anybody else experience such drops ?

    i just got a mail from roxy……lol

In line with several affiliate programs, this month we are introducing a new affiliate commission structure whereby your commission percentage (25%, 30% or 35%) will apply once you have referred at least one new purchasing player in the calendar month. If no new purchasing players are referred to the casino within the month, a 20% commission on your aggregated commissionable earnings in that month with apply.

playtech casinos will soon love me!
