A liberal democratic senator, David Leyonhjelm, has recently released a statement about the recent “online gambling ban” due to to implementation of the Interactive Gambling Amendment Bill of 2016 in Australia.

In his statement he essentially says that he wants to carve out an exemption for online poker and allow licensed and regulated Internet poker sites back into the country. In just the last month Aussies have lost access to Party Poker, Poker Stars, and Microgaming sites. Earlier this year 888 pulled all casino and poker games as well.

Should such a carve out happen, that would be great news for Aussie players. They would once again have access to all the biggest online poker sites. For now however, the offshore poker sites have taken a keen interest in the country and began offering games there, despite the new legislation.
