    Google screws us, again.

It’s been almost 2 years since we’ve encountered the “not provided” keyword conundrum, and now everyone’s favorite search engine has switched all searches over to encrypted searches using HTTPS. This means no more keyword data will be passed to site owners.

I like it and I think that it will actually improve things for most of us in the long run.

For one, auto site generators with spun content using black hat tricks come in and out rank some of our sites that are real quality. With out this info out there, some guy in India (no offense Indian SEO experts) will not know that special English or American slang that is a keyword combination making someone a lot of money.

In a way, limiting the information spammers can have could only help the rest of us, even if we do not know exactly what keywords are worth more or less, or are more competitive than others…. or if people even search for them anyway.

I think that eventually we will be left with search quires that land on pages where experts have written quality content, and not angled content that was put there to help leverage a keyword to rank better.

Since they implement the hummingbird update dubbed an “entirely new engine under the hood” it seems they are still running most of the search engine off the old parts until the new ones get broken in.

Here’s where it gets really interesting…
