Okay so this message should probably go in the Newbie section but its 2 fold
First I have been enjoying these boards for the last 8 months I thought I should finally register. So thats the hello part out of the way.
I have a google question, I am in the UK and Google as you all know has banned all gambling ads. But there is something I dont get, if you use the Overture inventory suggestion tool you can get a handle on how many searches a word gets.
Even though GOOG does not take casino site/affiliate portal advertising, they still sell the keywords casinos, poker etc…. so with this logic you can should be able to a dummy ad with bid to see how many searches a word gets.
The bit I dont get is I can add Casinos as keyword and see it would potentially X many clicks. But if add xxxcasino.com it comes up with an estimated 2 clicks per day – this makes no logic as the same on Overture gets 14,000 searches a month. And Goog is supposingly the biggest engine in the world
Anyone know of anygood Goog tool or the reason for this or am I just asking the same question everyone else has

They only do not (supposedly) take ads from places that offer or link to online gambling. Most obvious example, they have no problem taking ads for sites selling poker chips.
January 25, 2005 at 7:24 am #660650AnonymousInactivethis is my first post as well after watching these boards for several months while putting together http://www.playersjet.com, so that dispenses with my hello as well…
my question has to do with google and yahoo (overture)…in doing a quick search over the past couple of weeks on both of those sites, they certainly appear to be taking online gambling advertising, though they say they don’t…but a search for “online casino” on google brings up sponsored links for Casino On Net and Fortune Room…
has someone figured out how to get passed the google gate-keepers…and if so, please share what you know…
January 25, 2005 at 9:08 am #660652AnonymousInactiveis pretty easy. They claim to check every ad but this is just not the case.
If you have an existing ad words account that has been live for a while, you can just set up and add along the following lines
Bid against the word casinos
Have add copy as – Play Now Multiple Games available – Huge first time play bonuses – then display url getyourbonus.com which links to what every casino you want.
This works but is a very short lived strategy, they will ultimately find this ad and will go as far as banning you from adwords. If you use it for your site do you want to run the risk of annoying Goog?
Its not the easiest way, but for a long term plan, SEO, good site design and a good linking strategy will be your biggest help
