I was wondering how many links on a webpage are to many? Doesnt the search engines frown upon to many links on one page, looking at that page as kind of like a link farm. I currently have 117 links on my home page and I’m thinking that is way to many. Any input?

Opinions on this vary… I try to keep it under 50 per page, Google recommends less than 100 per page.

I agree. From what I’ve learned here at CAP, it’s best to keep it under 100. You especially don’t want the main page to be a link farm. It wouldn’t be too hard to divide your links into three or four separate groups. You could put each group on its own page within the site.

How many linkpages is ok then?

    10, 25, 100, 400?

DMOZ seems to do fine in the rankings and has over 21,000 pages of links. Has more to do with the quality of the links and the link pages than it does how many link pages you have.

I would hope it depends on why there are so many links.

If they are all reciprocal in comparison to an alphabetical list of something related to your content.

I would hope the second would be considered a resource, not a link farm.
