With so many of the affiliates that share their sites with the community for critiques… I have to say, I’m pretty amazed when folks do not include an email capture for their players. Email is honestly an excellent way to not only generate traffic to your site, but for affiliates to maintain strong player retention and alert your player network of special deals and promos.
Who out there is doing well with email and really relies on updating their player base with email promos? Or on the flip side… who out there would like to do more in the email sector?

I know I know I know I should. But I prefer the nameless anonimity of a website.
Someone else here suggested a worpress plugin to use the email addresses from your blog comments.
( I really don’t have much to add to this post, so I don’t know why I opened my flap)

I’ve always hated email marketing so I never do it.

Totally understand the preference of “nameless anonymity” but what about player retention?

now, I hate sending mail to but I just recently sent a newsletter from my forum to the members with a pretty good successs rate on visits this week.

I debated doing this, but in the UK, there are a large amount of Anti Spam laws now, and it can be hard to differentiate between what is spam and what isn’t
As long as you are following all CAN-SPAM Compliance laws… and any new laws that the UK has implemented, you are fine. You just need to be able to provide record that the subscriber has rightly subscribed toy our mailing list, and be sure to provide adequate ways for the user to unsubscribe if they choose.
