All in one basket or seperate google webmaster accounts?
I been wondering from an SEO point of view, if you have multiple domains on seperate IP's, should you create a seperate google webamater account for each domain or just have one account and let google see all your sites lumped together?
Wondering about this, because if I am crosslinking between sites am I being hurt in rankings by having google know the sites are linked. - 02-10-2012 03:25 PM #2Moderator

I try to keep them separate.. I'm a little paranoid about lumping them all together.
There's a few other things I stopped doing as well which google recommends, so it looks more natural.
I'm trying to get google to discover my sites naturally now days, rather then letting google know that I have added or updated content. - 02-10-2012 04:12 PM #3Senior Member

Totally agree with keeping the sites separate, I started doing that a year ago.
Rak are you saying you don't use sitemaps at all? I use them because I want google to know about new pages or posts ASAP. - 02-10-2012 05:17 PM #4Moderator

yah I removed the sitemap.. this was my thinking.
I want google to organically, naturally discover my site from other sites out there, from web2.0 sites, from article directories, blogs, etc.. wherever - except social networks (unless the are discovered naturally and not inserted by me)
So the process in my head is.
1. put up article
2. get links pointing to sites to me (but not social networks)
3. 1 week later from putting sites online - links from social networks
to me.. that looks like how a normal article would go online, and spread across the internet?
I could be wrong in doing what I am doing though... - 02-10-2012 08:39 PM #5Senior Member

I don't know that it would enough for them to draw any sort of conclusion.
I am on lots of analytics profiles because I have looked at sites for sale, taken a look at a friend's site, worked on a site and so on. I don't think Google could conclude that a link between two sites that both have a matching email on the Analytics profile is a "bad" link that should be devalued.
Nor are all links between sites that obviously share ownership devalued - many are useful for users and are a relevant endorsement from google's pov.
It can be a massive hassle to develop separate profiles if you run a lot of sites. - 02-15-2012 07:55 PM #10Senior Member

I am also paranoid about 'trusting' google by putting all my sites into one account. They are in it for profit, not goodwill! The advantage of cross linking from different websites and hosts seems to me to be negated if you put them altogether in one webmaster account. They'll probably figure it out anyway eventually, so why make it easy for them.
I view sitemaps as another possible page link in the google system. If they view it important enough to list them, then they will. I've seen a well ranked site where google even included nonsensical (to me anyway) chat conversations.Choosing the right player advantage game is the first step toward a winning baccarat game strategy.......
