as opposed to what?is it worth it to get involved in promoting casinos through affiliate programs?
I assume from your signature that you already have a gambling themed website, ... so if that's the case then I assume you're asking this question in respect to your other choices of ways to make money from your site; ie selling ad space - would be one example.
Then I'd have to say yes if you've already aqquired a steady flow of surfers.
If you're asking is this niche lucrative? Then yes, and no. It can be if you are knowledgeable in knowing how to get past the many, many obstacles which exist; and equally as important know which programs are worth trusting - since you'll not likely survive more than a couple of mistakes, especially if you start buying traffic; which is a whole other scam-filled mine field.
one more thing, aff programs are often the only means by which you can turn a profit; since most times its much harder to sell ad space up front on unproven ground. And the way you prove IMHO is to show successful stats you have accumulated thru.... yep you guess it; an affiliate program.
one more thing, these are very uncertain times; and its worth strong consideration what the near future holds in the way of legalities where you live, as another consideration to take into your decision process.
hope that helps. - 12-14-2004 11:52 AM #8Moderator - Big Kahuna

I have been involved with many affiliate programs in my day, some where a success others bombed. I guess what I'm trying to ask, is the casino affiliate market over saturated? I realize it takes alot of work to promote programs but overall is it even worth getting into casino affiliate programs? Hope that makes more sense. Thanks for all the replies so far.

I was told by at least two aff managers that about 90% of the affs don't make money. And out of the remaining 10% that only about 4% are big players.
Now whether those numbers are from oversaturation; or laziness; I cannot say. But I imagine the numbers are much better in other niches.
I know that's not the definitive answer, but it might help.
