ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey — Donald Trump sees money — lots of it — flowing away from him. That, he said, needs to change. The real estate mogul and founder of an Atlantic City casino company says the United States should legalise Internet gambling. The company that bears his name, Trump Entertainment Resorts, is moving forward with plans to establish an online betting venture as soon as it’s legal. The company says it wants to get in on the ground floor of the Internet gambling business, and is close to selecting a joint venture partner to run an online gambling operation. The idea is to be well-placed and ready to go as soon as such activity is legalised in the United States.

It takes a special type of person to understand how the industry works… and I am guessing they will surround themselves with professionals and acquisitions to jump into the industry. Lot of money, lot of backing, and they’ll go hard and fast.

Be interesting to see how affiliates will factor into their business plan.

I really want online gambling to get legalised in the US, but I hope it won’t doom affiliates who have to compete against rich land casinos. It might be good though, there would be a lot more affiliate programs to promote (even if there will be more competition).

Hopefully this can help move things along and be closer to regulation. I haven’t always been a the biggest fan of Donald Trump, but hey, if he can help with this… so beit.
