One of the nicest guys in the industry – the Captain – passed away.
Always ready to laugh, always ready to help a friend, always a song in his head…
I have so many wonderful memories with Alan, I am totally shocked and don’t know what to say here.
I will miss you, Alan!
I am so sorry for everyone’s loss. The Captian was nice and sweet to everyone and I am so sadden to hear this news. My condolences Dom, to you and his wife and family and everyone who called him friend.

This is very sad.
My condolences to his family and all his friends. The death of his daughter at such a young age seemed to have troubled him every single day in the last few years. At least, this is what I made out of some of his posts after she had died.
Now they are re-united. Rest in peace.
Like so many others, although I’ve never spoken with Alan, his forum posts, Facebook messages and emails made me smile and him a friend.
A sad loss for everyone that knew him and my sincerest condolences to his family.
Very shocked to hear this ,last i talked to him was in January when Patty was going through her lung transplant.Does anyone know how we can send something to Patty ,she must be devastated.Was he sick?

Just heard this very sad news and the captain was a true legend and a person I could always rely on. I remember late nights chatting with him online after having a barcadi cola or two and just discussing life in general. He is a true gentleman and someone I will miss deeply on a personal level. I have so many fond memories or him including going for a midnight deep in the sea at a conference in Miami and sitting late at night enjoying a drink at the bar with him.
The only comforting thought I have is knowing he has gone to a place where he can rest easily with a daughter he soo much loved that was taken away a few years ago.
RIP in peace Alan and Patty and Melissa will continue to always have friends here.

i have no other words atm…..Allan you certainly were one of the nicest guys in the industry, my prayers are with Patty and your family…you will be missed dear friend.
So shocking…. RIP.. Anyone mind sharing what the cause that took away one of our favorite members away so abrubtly?
