… but it’s not entirely bad news, either, as it may help spur the U.S. to get moving on its own (less government-y) iGaming laws. Get more info here.

Sure, government-run online gambling will be sure to cut affiliates out, so be careful what you wish for. There are certainly pros and cons to this whole internet gambling regulation thing.

Wow … the BC online gaming system was so popular that the site couldn’t handle the traffic, and it crashed on the first day!

For those following this story — it looks like the crash of the new BC online gaming system was a security breach, which allowed people “to bet using other people’s money” …

And now they’re saying they don’t know when the site will be back up. This is a weird one!
No reopening date in the cards for B.C.’s online casino – The Globe and Mail

To sum it up: “Just hours after the launch, the site was shut down and the lottery corporation immediately blamed an overwhelming rush of online traffic as the cause. The following Tuesday, the corporation admitted the cause was a technical glitch that allowed some users to gamble using other players’ credit cards.”

    Scary, eh?

Ah, yes, government workers and technology, quite the perfect match……..NOT ! If Canadian government workers are anywhere near as “competent” as the government workers in the U.S., er, er, well that explains the problems here. You can bet that no capacity planning to handle peak thresholds and no server redundancy scenarios were in place at all, at the time of the crash. Looks like that summer intern may get the boot, and be forced to return to school earlier than anticipated.

Did you mean for affiliates residing in Canada or worldwide?

I meant generally for all affiliates, CasinoRep. Although there’s a chance that if the bugs get worked out on this BC online gambling venture that there may someday be a government-sponsored gambling affiliate program associated with it, that isn’t likely to help the casino affiliate marketers who promote international brands.
