Do you guys feel like link exchange is helpful to get more traffic to your sites? If it does, would it be helpful to you if we had an area where you could just trade links with high PR sites?

3-6 months to start earning some money, 2 years to start earning decent money.

Started in 2005 and was profitable almost immediately. In 2006 I thought I was going to quit my day job and work on my website(s) full time. Then came UIGEA and I am down to just a trickle of income from promoting online gaming.

Mostly its just an intriguing hobby for me now. I like to write and also see if I can come up with a winning marketing strategy. Affiliate payments are a nice bonus.

I was just turned 18, when I published my site. The first month I got 200$ from PartyGaming. It was big money for a student.

I had a website way back in 2005, and it did fairly mediocre... I didn't spend very much time on it, but somehow it started making money within about 6 months. I had to wait about a year before it made any meaningful £s.

I do wish I kept the site and domain running...

You have to constantly learn SEO, the rules change and you have to change with them

i started my first site in january last year just to see if i could pay my rent (£250) off it, nothing for 3 months, in the 4th month i did it with extra money to party. so i started building more and more sites and earnings have increase steadily. im still to scared to leave my real job for security reasons and i still see this (igaming affilating) as a hobby and not a career that il ever become full time, but other areas of this industry seem very appealing and would love to one day be a part of it.

I made money after 6 months of starting my first website, but it took 2 years to start making decent money on a regular basis. I think it took me so long because I didn't really know what I was doing lol

Took me a little bit more than 2 years, but I do not believe in time so I do not consider it a lot . I believe the later you start the more time might take, especially if you have no idea what you are doing. I was basically more of a blogger, my first year and a half before I was pointed in right direction.

I believe the key is not how long it took you or it will take you if you just starting, but to be fun for you and so you can stick with it even if it takes 25 years. So I guess u have to be a little stubborn, or a lot. If anyone new is reading, I hope this encourages you to continue, as not everyone started making money on their first month.
