Barney Frank's WSOP Appearance
Tells group of professional poker players that Internet gambling is a "right"

July 6, 2009 (CAP Newswire) -- Hot on the heels of the big kick-off of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event this weekend, Massachusetts Representative Barney Frank made a much-discussed appearance at the mega-tournament to speak out on behalf of the rights of Internet gamers.
Frank’s appearance was reportedly brief, with just a few choice words directed at the crowds of poker enthusiasts there. According to the Fox News website, Frank’s presence was part of a rally to drum up support for his online gambling legalization and regulation bill, currently making the rounds through the U.S. Congress.
In front of a crowd of about 1,700 players, Frank said that he “viewed Internet gambling as a right that must be protected,” again according to Fox News article (read that report here).
