After the all the negative press and activity of the past few months I have decided it’s probably best for the community moving forward if I left. For whatever reason I create too much of a distraction and raise too many questions by even being here anymore. I know many believe I am some kind of monster now and even my old friends have fallen silent in support (Other than BB1 Thanks Steve). I will do whats best and simply move on. It’s been a great run and I truly enjoyed it. I met some of the best people I have ever known through CAP and it’s taken me wonderful places around the world. I would rather remember it fondly then grow bitter and forget all the good we have done together.

I have always loved this business and loved CAP, it’s been my baby for so many years and it’s hard to let go. But now its turned into a nightmare thats damaging my health and something I dread getting up to. Unfortunately I have already purchased tickets to London and have a hotel room booked so I may go, but even if I do this is my last appearance at the events. I will also be turning over the reins here to a younger team and staff with fresh ideas that can keep CAP moving in a positive direction. I sincerely hope everyone finds them more agreeable to work with. It’s time for me to move on.

God bless all my friends and have a prosperous 2009. I am certain we will see a major surge of business in the latter quarters of the year and the new CAP will be here to help you make the most of that opportunity.

Selling your interest or just not posting anymore?

I should have probably jumped in your defense more often I didn’t realize you were so down about the whole thing. Either way I can understand why you would want to move on as you have been doing this for a long time. This is your baby so I can see this being a difficult decision.

I hope you do decide to join the conferences later on you are an icon to a lot of us and will be missed.

You remind me of someone that would be behind something of this magnitude. I’m just a small jane working for an affiliate here but there’s no other place I’d rather be.

To the Professor, whom I never had the pleasure of meeting, I hope that day will come in the future. I respect someone that will not fall prey to constant allegations nor fall into the he said/she said trap. You sir have shown me great self control in this business which I know very little about.

May God bless you and your family. :hattip:

Lou, let this soup cool off a bit before you swallow any of it, as my grandma used to say.

The CAP community is not the same as the parent company, they are different entities.

Me thinks you need some time to let all this sink in and be resolved.

    See you in London. :hattip:

GodSpeed and thanks for putting up with me all these years.

(sorry this is so long but what’d you expect from me? This is short for 10 years)

I don’t think your timing is all that bad and believe me I’d do the same if i had a means to do it just because as Ant mentioned its been a long time. You were seasoned when I came along and now I’m the old fart on the boards.

For myself a new challenge was what made it possible for me to know all of you and have this whole experience which btw … though it had some very low lows: it also has some great highs … so was and remains a rollercoaster ride … its been the best 10 years of my life and made possible the best 10 years that remained of my son’s childhood … to be able to have the time and eventually money to provide us with a great relationship.

i tell you all this Lou because I wouldn’t have had it happen if I hadn’t left a bad work situation.

when you start hating to go to work everyday its truly time to take the leap of faith.
embrace the future but come back and stay in touch.

as for being a monster i think its more a matter of you have turned into something that people can focus their frustrations on and its easier to go to war than to try and fix things thru whatever system is set up so many whether consciously or otherwise … they will sabatoge their circumstance to put themselves in a position to … go to war.

I just state this is a possibility that I think few have ever considered.

I also think it is quite easy to forget that the people on the other side of the page are just as real and just as capable of bleeding as our selves so in the process of battle (business) which is not a game for the feint-hearted or thin skinned … it is all too easy to have snapped the whip a little harder than you really meant or vice-versa them doing to you.

I do not seek to place Lou on either side of the coin but rather seek to say that any of us could find ourselves on the right or wrong side because we’re all human and will not be perfect.

And there are extreme stakes involved and coming from such diverse backgrounds there are bound to be situations where one side feels their decision to do something is just business and a natural direction where their business should be intended to branch and the other side feels threatened or infringed.

Which is certainly one outsider’s possible view of the situations that have played out in recent past.

Lou has had a big, really big plan in his mind or else he’s really good at pulling together loose ends but I suspect the former … and I think that some of those who have been estranged had never forseen that Lou’s vision for CAP was an all-encompassing entity (and there is not a thing wrong with that) and that CAP was merely allowing outsiders to fill the gaps that CAP had not yet addressed but would some day ….

and when that some day came … there were hard feelings which have grown to become an outrageously dangerous situation like a boiler with its gage buried in to the red side for far too long .. that has just seems to have no end in sight. Oddly yet predictably enough … the ones that stir the fire the most are ones much less involved in the issues at hand and those most involved seem to make some effort to having a life instead of blaming Lou for their not having one.

Other people only have the power over you that you allow them to hold. Lou is effectively taking that out of play with this decision.

As things progressively get worse in the economy (and I hope they don’t) we’ll continue to see civilized behavior deteriorate and if you’re the focus of someone’s problems that you know are only going to grow worse in the coming months then yes ,… it is best to get far away from it before they can focus all that negative energy at your direction.

I can say with all confidence that 95% of the people on the other side of the coin are decent human beings that wouldn’t really seek to do you harm … that in fact when they hear of this they will actually be in denial and some will feel regret they took it so far. I know I very much wish I had the power to change the current status because I like all the people involved but I also realize that isn’t possible. Some lines cannot be uncrossed.

If i were to guess the future from this point i would expect to hear claims you’re pulling strings from behind curtains and ironically your legend will grow with every tail and conspiracy that is shared which will snowball … giving those who don’t “move on” … something to hate that really doesn’t exist any more.

So I say to you sir, God Speed and thank you for accepting me when I was shunned at the place which CAP eventually outgrew and left behind … which is also ironic since … we weren’t wanted and in some cases allowed … at the other place.

Few of us remain but we are not extinct. And with exception of very few (if any) … they left on their own accord and not because they were shunned or forced out.

I feel a great loss in the “force” but both admire and applaud the wisdom of your decision for reasons mentioned. These are not times to be likely forgiving a fool and the only true winning gambler is one that knows when to walk away from the game.

I know you’ll stay in touch but as a leaving gesture I’ll ask that you think of me on nights when feel you’ve had enough but give in and have one more and I’ll do the same.

I promise those are the times when you won’t see the bad … just a lot of fun, sillyness and many, many success stories which still seem sureal considering the circumstance.

    Cheers

    S.

    Dear Professsor,

    why?
Please stay in the forum like you always did.
I really don’t know what exactly happened altough I visit the forum almost every day and I am sure many others of us don’t too.
In a few months nobody will ever know that there was some troubles.
Maybe you just need to take care of your forum everyday but give your self a holiday of the forum for some time.
We all appreciate your work, threads and posts.

    Hi Prof

We have never met but I always liked CAP because of you. It’s going to be hard to see you go.

Remember that it’s always darkest before the dawn, and I’m sure the dawn is not far off.

Take a break before making any hasty moves.

With regard to all the hot air coming from the other forum, just remember that empty vessels always make the most noise. Let them destroy themselves with their own negativity.

What ever you decide, I wish you all the best. :hattip:

I hope this is just a temporary down because I for one will never let you leave – You are CAP and there is no getting away from it – Once you arrive in London and attend the awards with 500 people having the greatest time ever and celebrating everything that is positive in this industry and then on to see the 1,500+ people at the expo you will realise that in reality CAP is stronger than ever and that it is without doubt because you are involved.

I am so going to change your mind by the end of the week!

    Hi Lou, my friend :)

In my opinion it would be a good idea to take a break and to get your health in check, however please don’t leave CAP. It really would not be the same without you, and we all would miss you.

I apologize for never saying anything any sooner than today. As it is with everything else, I felt “this too shall pass” and I have been buried under my own pile of work.

Anyhow, I hope you still go to London so we can have some drinks together. Take a break and relax, but don’t leave. CAP needs you and the industry does too. In the end, you need to do what is right for you. I just don’t want to see you leave your baby behind.

    Best Regards,

    Ben

    Hi Lou,

Im an affiliate whos always buried in own work so I dont always keep up to date with whats going on in the industry.

Ive pretty much only come across this recent cardspike etc issue today after reading some of casinomeisters questions in another thread.

I dont particapate here loads, but I do refer to CAP and think its a great forum/community.
    So thanks for that.

As regards the issues, if you have made mistakes, just come clean about everything and then work on the soloution. In my brief look at the recent issues it looks worse if others are uncovering evidence after denials. So come clean and stop this issue in its tracks and dont give others (who I also respect) the ammo. This industry should work together and not be at war with each other.

Consider starting a fresh and forging better relationships (if possible) with those that have been silenced on these boards. Or work out ways that through these tough times everything will work out for the better.

If its affecting your health take a break, but also take other peoples advice and consider not retiring. Or at least take time to think that important decision through. Its highly likely your not thinking straight at the moment anyway, so delay any decisions.

    All the best.

    Lou,

Microsoft without Bill Gates will never be Microsoft.

I respect and understand your decision as each person knows the real weight of own cross. I would like to thank you for all your help to the community and to myself since forever.

Please consider this, if you are leaving because of the card-something situation, don’t… or you might as well lock yourself in a room without an Internet connection. On the years I have lived, I have learned in the hard way that you can’t just make problems disappear by running from them… the darn things will hunt you.

Whatever sensationalism that happened, the other guys have admitted they also did the same thing they were accusing you to. If you some how regret for something that you said in the past and just can’t handle it, relax, go for a sunny vacation and think about it as been hasty sucks now and much more later on. As far as I can see, all you did or did not in this community until this day is no reason to give up.

Whatever you really do, thank you. :hattip:

    Prof
I think Big Fish said it exactly the way I would have said it.
I have no idea what the card spiking thing is all about, simply because I haven’t been on the forums for weeks but quite frankly I have no interest in it either as I see you as the helpful person and founder of CAP who has taught me a lot and I am not happy to hear that you are considering leaving CAP
The fact is that there will always be ups and downs in this industry and unfortunately being in a high profile position you will always be used as a dart board – whether fairly or unfairly, but that goes with the territory of the job.
Whilst you are feeling really down right now and I can understand you wanting to throw in the towel, why not rather just take a break from the boards for a while – Do the London thing and then take Mrs Professor on a holiday and leave the laptop at home!!! ( I know that would be like cutting your right arm off but it needs to be done )
By the time you come back, everything will have settled down and become a distant memory and you will feel in a much better and healthier frame of mind and can then come to a final decision.
